現代語訳

旧制に規模を煥発させ、武を緯とすることは即ち文を経とすることです。命を拝して虔みを増し、身を撫して益々励みます。恭しく思いますに、皇帝陛下は、

道は堯舜よりも高く、
徳は湯王・文王にも勝り、
六合を統べて衣を垂れ、仁を教えるには必ず先ず孝を教えられます。
九重を開いて礼を典とし、君となり又た師をも兼ねられます。

臣敬は世々藩境を守り、代々貢職に供しております。竜章の遠錫を荷い、鮫島に輝きを生じます。鳳詔の追揚を洣し、丹楹に色を増します。天使に対して九叩し、象闕を望んで三呼いたします。謹んで陪臣向竜翼・程順則等を遣わし、虔んで土物を齎し、聊か芹私を表します。伏して願わくは、

乾行息むことなく、
沢沛弥々崇く、
王会を統べて図を開き、車書を合するもの千八百国、
天時を占って律に応じ、禎祥を三十六風に験しめ、

まさに文麟が瑞を献じ、彩鳳が来儀するを見んとしております。臣敬は瞻仰に任えざる

英語訳

[The memorial continues:] You have magnificently enhanced the regulations based on the old system. Making martial virtue the weft is precisely making literary accomplishment the warp. Receiving your commands with increased reverence, I humble myself and strive ever more diligently. Respectfully reflecting that His Imperial Majesty:

Your Way surpasses that of Yao and Shun,
Your Virtue exceeds that of Tang and King Wen,
Ruling over the six directions while reigning in repose, in teaching benevolence You necessarily first teach filial piety.
Opening the nine-fold palace to establish ritual propriety, You serve as both ruler and teacher.

Your vassal Kei has for generations guarded the feudal borders and served the tributary duties through the ages. Bearing the distant bestowal of the dragon insignia, Shark Island generates radiance. Receiving the pursuing praise of the phoenix edict, the red pillars gain luster. Facing the Imperial Envoys with nine prostrations, gazing toward the elephant towers with three acclamations. I respectfully dispatch attending vassals Kō Ryūyoku, Tei Junsoku and others, reverently carrying local products to modestly express my humble offerings. Humbly praying that:

The celestial movement never ceases,
Imperial benevolence grows ever more sublime,
Unifying the royal assemblies to expand the realm, those who unite in carriage and script number one thousand eight hundred nations,
Divining the celestial timing to respond to the cosmic rhythm, verifying auspicious signs in the thirty-six winds,

We are about to witness the literary qilin offering auspicious omens and the colorful phoenix coming in ceremonial procession. Your vassal Kei cannot adequately bear the burden of reverent admiration...
