現代語訳

禁廷は新たに輿図を刊行した。朝鮮、ハミ、ラサ属国等の図は皆そこにある。海外の藩封は、例によりその次に附することができる。もし前の誕妄なままにして、釐正を為さなければ、また何を以て聖朝の風化の遠きと、外邦の内向の久しきを見て、職方に附して甚盛と称せられようか。

故に載筆の時において、尤も兢兢として慎を致すという。康熙六十年、歳は辛丑にあり。秋八月。翰林院編修臣徐葆光謹んで序す。

天使館

天使館は迎恩亭を去ること一里許。南に面す。屋宇は皆中国の衙署の如し。外柵四周。柵内に東西門。房はそれぞれ四楹。竿上に冊封の黄旗二を施す。八角の鼓棚が左右二所。大門の内に東西役房がそれぞれ六楹。儀門の上に「天沢門」三字の匾がある。前明万暦中、使臣夏子陽が題した。今は失い去った。臣等はその上に補書した。大堂の前庭は方広数畝。陪臣はここで礼を行う。甬道の左右に、臣等は大榕樹四株を植えた。堂上の前楹で、前使張学礼・王垓は「天威遠布」隷書の四字を題した。汪楫・林麟焻は「敷命堂」三字を題した。皆在り。臣等はまた書いた...

The Imperial Court has newly published maps. Maps of Korea, Hami, Lhasa and other tributary states are all included therein. Overseas feudal domains can customarily be appended in their proper sequence. If the previous false and absurd [records] remain uncorrected, how else could one demonstrate the far-reaching influence of the Sacred Dynasty's civilizing transformation and the long-standing inward orientation of foreign lands, to be appended to the Ministry of War's records and called most glorious?

Therefore, when putting brush to paper, one must be especially cautious and careful. In the sixtieth year of Kangxi, in the year of Xin-Chou, autumn, eighth month. Hanlin Academy Compiler, your servant Xu Baoguang respectfully writes this preface.

Celestial Envoy's Quarters

The Celestial Envoy's Quarters are about one li from the Greeting Grace Pavilion, facing south. All buildings are like Chinese government offices. Outer fencing surrounds all four sides. Within the fence are east and west gates. Rooms each have four bays. Two yellow flags of investiture are installed on poles. Octagonal drum pavilions are in two places, left and right. Inside the main gate are service quarters of six bays each, east and west. Above the ceremonial gate is a plaque with three characters "Heavenly Bounty Gate." During the Wanli period of the previous Ming, the envoy Xia Ziyang inscribed it. Now it has been lost. We servants have supplemented the inscription above. The front courtyard of the great hall is several mu square. Attending ministers perform ceremonies here. On the left and right of the paved walkway, we servants planted four large banyan trees. On the front beam above the hall, former envoys Zhang Xueli and Wang Gai inscribed four characters in clerical script: "Imperial Authority Spreads Far."
