申付急に召捕差上て宸襟（しんきん）をやすめ奉んと事も
なげに勅答（ちよくとう）あれは大王 怡悦（いゑつ）まし〳〵て然は菊之丞が来迄
は奥の殿に引篭（ひきこもり）天人どもに三弦（さみせん）弾（ひか）せてなぐ
さまん此砌に罪人（ざいにん）どもが見へたりとも大抵（たいてい）軽
は追返し重きやつは先六道の辻の溜（ため）へ打
込で置べしまた最前（さいぜん）の坊主め菊之丞に身
を打し事初は憎（にく）しと思ひしが朕（ちん）が心にく
らぶれば若い者の有そふな事なれば再（ふたゝび）娑（しや）
婆（ば）へ返（かへす）べししかし此後菊之丞買ことは法度
たるべし弁蔵松助菊次なんどを初として
其外湯島神明に至るまで外の者は免許
なるぞと勅定ありて御 簾（れん）さつとおりければ
竜玉は水府に帰り皆々退土したりけり

現代語訳
申し付けて急いで召し捕り差し上げて、帝のお心を安らかにして差し上げましょう」と何でもないかのように勅答があったので、大王はますます喜んで「それでは菊之丞が来るまでは奥の御殿に引きこもり、天人どもに三味線を弾かせて慰もう。この際に罪人どもが現れても、大抵の軽い者は追い返し、重い奴は先ず六道の辻の溜めに打ち込んでおくべし。また先ほどの坊主め、菊之丞に身を任せたことは初めは憎いと思ったが、朕の心に比べれば若い者の有りそうなことであるから、再び娑婆へ返すべし。しかしこの後、菊之丞を買うことは法度とするべし。弁蔵・松助・菊次などを初めとして、その外湯島神明に至るまで外の者は許可するぞ」と勅定があって、御簾がさっと下りたので、竜王は水府に帰り、皆々退出したのであった。

The Great King was even more delighted and declared: "Then until Kikunojō arrives, I shall seclude myself in the inner palace and have the celestial beings play the shamisen to console myself. During this time, even if sinners appear, I shall generally turn away the light offenders and first throw the serious criminals into the holding area at the crossroads of the six realms. As for that monk from earlier who gave his body to Kikunojō—at first I thought it hateful, but compared to my own heart, it is something that would be natural for a young person, so he shall be returned to the mortal world again. However, hereafter, purchasing Kikunojō shall be forbidden. Benzō, Matsusuke, Kikuji and others, as well as all others up to and including those at Yushima Shinmei, are granted permission." With this imperial decree, the curtain was swiftly drawn, so the Dragon King returned to the water palace, and everyone withdrew.
