成てのさわぎ聞た処が姦夫(まおとこ)出入初は今も切か揬(つく)か
と見る内にイヤ親分(おやふん)しやの割(わり)を入るのと兎や角(かく)と
云ふ内に酒五升とけんどん十人前と下らぬ文言な

折して我等をかつぎし男めも近付(ちかづき)かして仲ケ間
へ入 茶碗(ちやわん)てしたゝか引掛(ひつかけ)て千鳥足(ちどりあし)にて帰がけ馴染(なしみ)
の内へ立寄れば死だ息子の七 回忌(くわいき)とて天 窓(たま)に輪(わ)
の入た道心がきやり声をはりあげて鉦(かね)たゝいて
百万 遍(べん)世帯仏法(せたいふつほう)腹念仏(はらねぶつ)豆腐(とうふ)のくつ煮に干(ほし)大
根のはり〳〵て済せば蜆(しじみ)はいらぬとはねられてかつき
し男腹を立あたけたいないま〳〵しいと帰りに川へ
さらへ込みしを幸と干汐につれて息を切て帰り
しと語もはてぬ処へ背に角をおふて一文字に成
て来るものは拳螺(さゝえ)にてそありける是も忍びの役

今日の祝いは蜆では済まされぬ、川蝦でも買おう」との事なので、担いでいた男は不承不承に振り返って、また二、三丁ほど行って四つ辻を左に曲がれば、今度はそこらが大騒ぎ。大きな泥棒と掴み合い組んずほぐれつの人群集で、格子はめりめりと壊れ、皿鉢はがらがらと割れ、手桶の輪が切れて水が飛び散る。畳からは黒煙が上がり、腕に彫り物をした男どもが大肌脱ぎになっての大騒ぎ。聞いたところが姦夫の出入りで、始めは「今も切るか突くか」と見ている内に「いや親分、仲裁を入れるのだ」と、とやかく言う内に、酒五升と献立十人前と、下らぬ文言で謝り証文一通で、討ち果たすほどの出入りが付いたのでにやにやと睦まじく和解して、我等を担いでいた男めも近づいて仲間に入り、茶碗でしたたか引っ掛けて千鳥足で帰りがけ、馴染みの内へ立ち寄れば、死んだ息子の七回忌とて、天窓に輪の入った道心者がきゃり声を張り上げて鉦を叩いて百万遍、世帯仏法で腹念仏、豆腐のくず煮に干し大根のはりはりで済ませば「蜆はいらぬ」とはねられて、担いでいた男は腹を立て「あてけたいない、忌々しい」と、帰りに川へ投げ込んだのを幸いに、干潮に連れて息を切らして帰ったと語るのもまだ終わらぬところへ、背に角を負って一文字になって来るものは拳螺(さざえ)である。これもまた忍びの役目で
