用ならんと申上れば竜王もせんかたなく無用の長
詮議（せんぎ）に時うつるとも所詮（しよせん）埒（らち）は明まじければ此上は
此竜王一人自身立向ひ雲を起し雨を降（ふら）し菊
之丞を引抓（ひつつかん）で閻魔王へ奉んと波を蹴立（けたて）て立給ふ
一座の鱗（うろくす）前後をかこい鶏（にはとり）をさくに何ぞ牛の刀を
用給ん今一御 評議（ひやうぎ）と留ても留らず前後左右を踏（ふみ）
飛し黒雲を起し出給ふ処に御門に扣へたるもの
つゝと出御腰をむづとだくふりほどかんとし給へ
とも中々 容易（たやすく）動（うこき）得す御所の五郎丸にては
よもあらじ何者なるそ爰（こゝ）をはなせとふり
むき給へば天窓（あたま）に皿（さら）を戴（いたゞき）たる水虎（かつは）にてぞ有ける
竜王は御声高く己（おのれ）下郎の分として推参（すいさん）至極
と御手をふり上ケ打んとし給ふ処を大勢の鱗（うろくす）
ども左右の御手にすがり付御とゞめ申せしは水虎（かつは）
が君への忠義なれば悪くばし聞し召れそ先々
御座に御直りと無理に引立もとのごとく御座に
なをせば竜王猶も怒り給ふを水虎（かつは）御前ににじ
り寄 天窓（あたま）の水もこぼるゝばかり涙（なみだ）をはら〳〵と

の半ばで、河豚を食べる時節ではないので、この御評議は御無用でしょうと申し上げると、竜王もどうしようもなく、無用の長い詮議で時が過ぎても、結局埒が明かないので、この上はこの竜王一人が自ら立ち向かい、雲を起こし雨を降らせて、菊之丞を引っ掴んで閻魔王のもとへ連れて行こうと、波を蹴立てて立ち上がった。一座の家来たちが前後を囲んで、「鶏を裂くのに何で牛刀を用いるのですか。もう一度御評議を」と止めても止まらず、前後左右を踏み飛ばして黒雲を起こし出ようとしたところ、御門に控えていた者がさっと出て、御腰をむんずと抱きかかえ、振りほどこうとなさったが、なかなか容易に動くことができない。御所の五郎丸ではあるまい、何者であるか、ここを放せと振り向きなさると、頭に皿を載せた河童であった。竜王は声高く「おのれ下郎の分際で推参至極」と御手を振り上げて打とうとなさったところを、大勢の家来どもが左右の御手にすがりついて御止めしたのは、「河童が君への忠義なので、悪くお聞きになりませんよう。まずは御座にお戻りを」と無理に引き立てて元のように御座に直らせると、竜王はなお怒りなさったが、河童が御前ににじり寄り、頭の水もこぼれるばかり涙をはらはらと流して、「下郎の身を顧みず無礼をしたのも、わずかな志の
