現代語訳
一、上使が上の間へ着座し会釈があったので、上使の前へ進み出て平伏した。
上使が申し聞かされたのは、備中守の病気が
重篤である段が上聞に達し、
お尋ねのため上使が派遣された。なお療養を
加えるべき旨の上意の趣旨を申し聞かされたので、
備中守へ申し聞かせる旨を申して退座した。
一、熨斗三方を自分で持ち出し、直ちに引き下がった。
一、次の間において家老を呼び出し、上意の
趣旨を申し聞かせ、備中守殿へ申し上げるよう
申し聞かせた。程なく家老が出てきて備中守へ
申し聞かせたところ、御請けの処しかるべく願う旨を
申したのを承り置いた。
一、近習の者が茶を差し出した。
一、詰めていた御医師が出てきて備中守の
養生の様態を申し述べて引き下がった。
一、詰め合わせの親類共が一同に出てきて
挨拶を行い引き下がった。
一、御先手長田右兵衛尉が養生の様態書、
その外の書付共を持ち出して
上使へ差し出した。

1. The imperial envoy took his seat in the upper room and exchanged bows, so I advanced before the imperial envoy and prostrated myself.
What the imperial envoy conveyed was that Bitchu-no-kami's illness had reached a critical stage, and this matter had reached His Majesty's attention. The imperial envoy had been dispatched to make inquiries. Furthermore, the imperial will was conveyed that medical treatment should be intensified. Having been told this, I stated that I would convey this to Bitchu-no-kami and withdrew from my seat.
1. I personally brought out the ceremonial gift tray (noshi sanpō) and immediately withdrew.
1. In the next room, I summoned the chief retainer and conveyed the purport of the imperial will, instructing him to report this to Lord Bitchu-no-kami. Shortly after, the chief retainer appeared and conveyed the message to Bitchu-no-kami. The response was that he humbly accepted and wished to comply appropriately, which I duly noted.
1. A close attendant served tea.
1. The physician in attendance appeared and reported on Bitchu-no-kami's medical condition, then withdrew.
1. The assembled relatives all appeared together, exchanged greetings, and withdrew.
1. Nagata Uhyōe-no-jō of the advance guard brought out documents regarding the medical condition and other written materials, presenting them to the imperial envoy.
