一自分罷出二之間ニ扇子取り
上使之前え罷越御請申上候
備中守申上候病気大切之段
達 上聞為 御尋
上使被成下冥賀至極有難仕合
奉存候御請之義何分宜頼候
段申述
一上使直ニ退参ニ付此前先立
地覆外迄送り脇え披キ致
会釈致上馬候を見内え入候
現代語訳
一、自分が出てきて二の間で扇子を取り、
上使の前へ参って御請けを申し上げた。
備中守が申し上げるには、病気が重篤である段が
上聞に達し、お尋ねのため
上使を派遣くださったことは冥加至極ありがたい仕合わせと
存じ奉る。御請けの義はなにとぞよろしく頼む
段を申し述べた。
一、上使が直ちに退参するので、この前を先立って
地覆の外まで送り、脇へ退いて
会釈をし、上馬されるのを見て内へ入った。
英語訳
1. I myself appeared and took my fan in the second room, then went before the imperial envoy to express our acceptance.
Bitchu-no-kami stated: "That my illness, being in a critical condition, has reached His Majesty's attention, and that an imperial envoy has been graciously dispatched to make inquiries, is an extremely grateful blessing. I humbly request your favorable consideration regarding the matter of acceptance."
1. As the imperial envoy immediately departed, I preceded him and escorted him to the area beyond the threshold sill, then stepped aside, bowed respectfully, watched him mount his horse, and then went back inside.
