Therefore, in this world where people notice even the cleverest schemes of young talents seeking profitable ventures. Recently, at a certain place, due to gradually worsening financial difficulties, the rumor spread that the entire household stopped practicing spear techniques and began practicing bell techniques. When one listens carefully, the character for "spear" (槍) uses the metal radical with the character meaning "to spend," while "bell" (鈴) uses the metal radical with the character meaning "to order/control." Thus [the master ordered] to stop spending and simply to tighten control over money. Though it's merely a play on characters, the lord's command cannot be silently ignored. It appears that even Buddha turns away, saying that no matter how skilled a master or expert one may be, sentient beings without money are difficult to save.
At some point in time, in the area of Kanda in Edo, there was a wasted ronin named Hinke Zeninai (Poor Moneyless), whose appearance was utterly pitiful. His genealogy, to speak of it, claims that he is—most reverently—a descendant of Amenokoyane-no-Mikoto, child of the great minister Fujiwara no Kamatari, namely Lord Fujiwara no Tankai, who had an illicit affair with a fisher-woman at Shido Bay in Sanuki Province.
