卯雲（バウウン）木 室（ムロ）君（クン）に尻 尾（ポ）を見出され。おくり給はる
狂歌に
酔（ヱフ）て来て小間物見せのおて際（ギハ）は
仕出しの櫛（クシ）もはやる筈（ハヅ）なり
実（ゲニ）や己（ヲノレ）をしらざるに屈して。己を知るに伸（ノビル）
となんいへば。此御答申さんとて。はかまゝ#1八百を書
ちらす。固（モトヨリ）己（オノレ）を知らざる人に見せるにはあらず。
嵐（アラシ）音八が曰。アヽ気（キ）が違（チガ）ふたそふな。
かゝる時何と千 里（リ）のこまものや
伯楽（ハクラク）もなし小つかひもなし
風来山人誌
現代語訳
卯雲木室君に尻尾を見出され、贈り給う狂歌に
酔って来て小間物見世の手際は
仕出しの櫛も流行る筈なり
実にや己を知らざるに屈して、己を知るに伸びるとなん言えば、この御答えを申さんとて、はかなくも八百を書き散らす。もとより己を知らざる人に見せるにはあらず。
嵐音八が曰く。ああ気が違ったそうな。
かかる時何と千里の小間物や
伯楽もなし小使いもなし
風来山人誌
英語訳
Bōun Kimuro-kun discovered my true nature and bestowed upon me this kyōka:
When drunk, coming to the sundries shop, your skillful manner
Even the combs from your workshop are bound to be popular
Indeed, when one yields to not knowing oneself and extends when knowing oneself, as they say, I attempt to respond to this, writing scattered nonsense in vain. Originally, this is not meant to be shown to those who do not know themselves.
Arashi Otohachi says: "Ah, he seems to have gone mad."
At such a time, what about the sundries of a thousand li?
There is no Hakuraku, no errand boy
