し證拠（しやうこ）には六朝（りくてう）のとき梁（りやう）の右僕射（ゆうぼくや）范雲（はんうん）九錫（きうしやく）の命（めい）
あらんとする折ふし范雲傷寒を病（やめ）り名医 徐文伯（じよぶんはく）
を邀（むかへ）てしか〳〵のことあり何とぞ此病を愈（しや）すことあ
らんや此度 錫命（しやくめい）にはづれなば一生此 官（くわん）にいたりがた
しとなげく文伯のいはく病を愈すことはいとやすし
今日（けふ）明日（あす）に愈（いや）すべけれども恐（おそ）らくは二年の後かなら
す死なん范雲がいはく朝（あした）に道（みち）を聞て夕（ゆふべ）に死すとも

文伯 止（やむ）事を得（ゑ）ずして地を焼（やい）て桃（もゝ）の葉を敷（しき）其上（そのうへ）に
范雲を伏（ふ）させあつく衣を着（き）せて蒸（むし）ければ暫時（さんじ）の
間に汗（あせ）出てくすりを用ひて翌日（よくじつ）平復（へいふく）し終（つい）に九錫（きうしやく）の
命（めい）にあづかり悦（よろこ）ぶことかぎりなし文伯のいはく喜（よろこ）ぶにたら
ず人の重（おもん）ずる所は命なりといひしに終に翌年（よくねん）死せ
しとなり又 明（みん）の孫景祥（そんけいしやう）は名医なり長沙の李文正公（りぶんせいこう）

という証拠には、六朝の時代、梁の右僕射范雲が九錫の命を受けようとする折に、范雲が傷寒を患った。名医徐文伯を招いて、かくかくのことがあった。「何とかこの病を治すことはできないだろうか。この度の錫命に遅れてしまえば、一生この官職に就くことは難しい」と嘆いた。文伯が言うには「病を治すことはとても易しい。今日明日にも治すことができるが、恐らく二年後には必ず死ぬであろう」。范雲が言うには「朝に道を聞いて夕に死んでも構わない。ましてや二年もあるのだから、早く治してほしい」と言った。
文伯はやむを得ず、地面を焼いて桃の葉を敷き、その上に范雲を伏せさせ、厚い衣を着せて蒸したところ、しばらくの間に汗が出て、薬を用いて翌日には平復し、ついに九錫の命を受けることができ、喜ぶことこの上なかった。文伯が言うには「喜ぶには及ばない。人の重んずるところは命である」と言ったが、ついに翌年死んでしまったという。

As evidence of this, during the Six Dynasties period, when Fan Yun, the Right Servant (Right Pushe) of the Liang dynasty, was about to receive the Nine Bestowments (jiuxi), Fan Yun fell ill with typhoid fever. He summoned the famous physician Xu Wenbo, and the following events occurred. "Is there any way to cure this illness? If I miss this bestowment of honors, it will be difficult to attain this office in my lifetime," he lamented. Wenbo said, "Curing the illness is very easy. I can cure it today or tomorrow, but I fear you will surely die within two years." Fan Yun replied, "It would be acceptable to hear the Way in the morning and die in the evening - how much more so with two years! Please cure me quickly."
Wenbo had no choice but to burn the ground, spread peach leaves on it, make Fan Yun lie down on top, dress him in thick clothing and steam him. Within a short time, sweat emerged, and using medicine, he recovered the next day. He finally received the Nine Bestowments and rejoiced beyond measure. Wenbo said, "There is no cause for joy. What people value most is life itself." However, he indeed died the following year.
Also, Sun Jingxiang of the Ming dynasty was a famous physician. When Li Wenzheng Gong of Changsha was twenty-nine years old, he suffered from a spleen disorder. The symptoms were that he could eat but could not digest. Therefore, he moderated his diet and did not eat much. As he gradually moderated it, his food intake gradually decreased until it became a condition of almost not eating at all, and he became thin and exhausted daily, developing into a critical condition. Months passed and it reached the end of the year. All the physicians
