尤とまた薬種やへ走り行て尋ければ手代共
されば其ときにたれも気が付ずして医者
の名を尋ざりしと是より事むつかしく成て
薬種屋 変改（へんがい）すべきいひ立の作り事のやうに成
て薬種や甚（はなはだ）迷惑（めいわく）して毎日手代共をおして彼
医者を尋しに果（はた）して本丁筋の裏店（うらたな）に借宅し
て居ける所を尋付て何ごとなきていにて先日
は始て心意を得候御宿は是にて候哉と名札し
かと見とめて帰（かへ）りけり牢人方へ委細（いさい）に名も
宿もいひつかはしければ牢人けでんしてそれは
屋主（やぬし）へ昼夜（ちうや）出入医者なり打て捨んとおもひし
がきつと思案（しあん）して定てふかき子細ぞあるべしと
日を経（へ）て様子（やうす）を聞つくらいけるに屋主の所為（しよい）な
る事を知りて下（した）にて事すましがたしとて沙汰（さた）
所（ところ）へ訴（うつたへ）ければこと〴〵く御吟味ありしに屋主と
医者との所為成事白状しければ屋主は追出（ついしゆつ）
にて江戸追ひはらはれ家財を牢人に下され
医者は賄賂（まいない）を取て前代未聞（ぜんだいみもん）の悪事を巧（たくみ）し

もっともだ」とまた薬種屋へ走って行って尋ねたところ、手代たちは「確かにその時は誰も気が付かずして医者の名を尋ねませんでした」と答えた。これより事が難しくなって、薬種屋が変更すべき言い立ての作り事のようになって、薬種屋は甚だ迷惑して毎日手代たちを遣わして、かの医者を尋ね探したところ、果たして本町筋の裏店に借家して住んでいる所を探し当てて、何事もないような様子で「先日は初めて心意を得ました。お宿はこちらでございますか」と名札をしかと見留めて帰った。浪人方へ詳細に名も住所も言い遣わしたので、浪人は激怒して「それは家主へ昼夜出入りしている医者なり。打ち殺そうと思ったが、きっと思案して、定めて深い事情があるに違いない」と日を経て様子を聞き探ったところ、家主の所業である事を知って、内々で事を済ませ難しとて奉行所へ訴えたところ、事細かく御吟味があったので、家主と医者との所業である事を白状したため、家主は追放にて江戸追い払われ、家財を浪人に下され、医者は賄賂を取って前代未聞の悪事を企み

I thought to strike him down, but upon careful consideration, there must surely be some deeper circumstances." After some time passed, he investigated the situation and learned that it was the landlord's doing. Thinking it would be difficult to settle the matter privately, he filed a complaint with the magistrate's office. When there was a detailed official investigation, both the landlord and doctor confessed their actions.
