ゆへ一度行し医者は懲（こり）てふたゝびゆかず去年も
当 若亭主（わかていしゆ）の徳左衛門が大病を煩（わづら）ふて北山 寒雪（かんせつ）
が長〳〵の療治（りやうぢ）去暮年 際（きは）に寒雪方へくすりの服（ふく）
数（かず）を尋につかはしければ二百十六服といふ徳介聞
て件（くだん）の弐分ぐすりにして見れは銀壱枚余に上
る是はしたゝかなる薬礼 加賀絹（かゞきぬ）壱 反（たん）三拾目する
これをやれとてつかはしければ寒雪大に胸（むね）あて
違（ちが）ひ徳左衛門殿御病気御本 復（ぶく）の御 祝儀（しうぎ）として
御 念（ねん）入まして時服（じふく）にいたせと御ざりまして加賀
絹（きぬ）おくりくだされます所忝存ますされども徳
左衛門殿は病気は大病と申 難病（なんびやう）と申くすりも
高貴（かうき）の薬品（やくひん）を以て漸（やう〳〵）治しおふせまして御座
る然れは薬店（やくてん）のやりくりが埒があきませぬほど
に薬種代（やくしゆだい）を銀にて御 払（はらひ）くださりませ先此絹は
かへしますと戾（もど）しぬ折節（おりふし）薬種屋来りければ右の

そのため一度行った医者は懲りて二度と行かない。去年も当家の若亭主である徳左衛門が大病を患って、北山寒雪が長々と療治した。去年の暮れ際に寒雪の所へ薬の服用数を尋ねに使いを出したところ、二百十六服だという。徳介が聞いて、例の二分ずつの薬代として計算してみると、銀一枚余りになる。これはかなりの薬礼だ。加賀絹一反、三十目するこれを遣わすとして使いを出したところ、寒雪は大いに心当て違いして「徳左衛門殿のご病気ご本復のお祝儀として、ご念入りに時服にいたせということでございまして、加賀絹をお送りくださいます所、ありがたく存じますが、しかし徳左衛門殿のご病気は大病と申し、難病と申し、薬も高貴な薬品を用いてようやく治し遂げました。
そうであれば薬店のやりくりが片付きませんほどに、薬種代を銀でお払いくださいませ。まずこの絹はお返しします」と戻してしまった。折しも薬種屋がやって来たので、右の仕方を話したところ「それは三五の二十五、大間違いでございます。ご用いになられた薬は何でございましょうか」「帰脾湯二百十六服です」「それは近年高相場の薬品、人参はどうなさいましたか」
