黄帝が車を製作したけれども、四つ手駕籠の軽やかな工夫は思い付かなかった。梶原景時が逆櫓のことで争ったけれども、猪牙舟の速さには気付かなかった。末世の手回しの良さ、浮世の才覚、腰の据わり具合、櫓の手練、飛鳥となって雲に入るかと思えば矢となって空を凌ぐかと疑うほどである。舟は軽やかで人は重々しく、動けば動き、静まれば静まる。潮が引けば橋杭が長く見え、月が出れば上ることが早い。火縄箱でくすぶらせれば、吸い殻が船端を叩く音は聞こえず、往来の人目は届かない。左右の河岸では椎の木が屋根を忍んで高く、首尾の松は波を潜って栄える。竹町の渡しを十文字に過ぎ、
