金の鯱を睨みつつ、水道の水を産湯に浴びて、お膝元（江戸）に生まれ出ては、拝み搗きの米を食い、乳母日傘にて成人し、金銀もきさご弾きのように惜しげもなく使い、陸奥山も低いと見なし、吉原・本田の髪刷毛の間に安房・上総も近しと思う。隅田川の白魚も中落ちは食わず、本町の角屋敷をなげうって大門を打つは、人の心の花というものであろう。

○ Since the words of the oiran (courtesans), shinzō (apprentice courtesans), and kamuro (young attendant girls) are recorded exactly as spoken, the broken speech is left uncorrected and the irregular kana spellings are left as they are — this is in order to convey to the reader how their speech sounds in its distinctive accent and manner.
