一、右 無人島（むにんとう）より八丈島（はちじやうじま）までの海上（かいじやう）の義（ぎ）、船（ふね）にて走（はし）り申候 事（こと）ゆへ難
＿レ計（はかり）奉＿レ存候へども、三 日（にち）三 夜（や）の間（あひだ）に御座（ござ）候へば、大概（たいがい）に積（つもり）候処凡 海上（かいじやう）七八
百 里（り）程（ほど）も走り候義と奉＿レ存候。
又、其 後（ご）、無人島にて廿 年（ねん）余（あま）り存命（ぞんめい）仕（つかまつり）候甚八仁三郎平三郎三人の者（もの）召（めし）
出（いだし）、先達（さきだツ）て申上候、無人島（むにんとう）にて作（つく）り候を此方（こなた）迄（まで）持参（もちまゐ）り八丈島の役人（やくにん）へ預（あづ）

一、遠州（ゑんしう）荒井三人の者、年（とし）久敷（ひさしく）無人島（むにんとう）にて苦難（くなん）致（いた）し候 段（だん）不便（ふびん）に被＿レ為（せ）＿二
思召＿一、壱人へ三人 扶持（ふぢ）ツヽ三人へ九人扶持其 身（み）一生の内（うち）被＿二 下置＿一、最早（もはや）渡（と）

一、右無人島より八丈島までの海上の件、船で走ったことなので計り難く存じますが、三日三夜の間でございましたので、大概に積もったところ、おおよそ海上七八百里程も走った件と存じます。
また、その後、無人島にて二十年余り生存いたしました甚八・仁三郎・平三郎三人の者を召し出し、先達て申し上げました、無人島にて作りましたものをこちらまで持参し八丈島の役人へ預け置きましたもみ米を、公儀へ差し上げるようにとの件でございます。最前も町奉行へ右の者どもが参りました際、八丁堀同心依田安左衛門と申す者が付き添い召し連れ候て、吹上へ参り

ました。右の同心安左衛門は依田豊前守殿の組にて七十六歳まで勤め、明和元申年に隠居いたし今も生存しております。
一、遠州荒井三人の者、年久しく無人島にて苦難いたした段を不憫にお思いになられ、一人へ三人扶持ずつ三人へ九人扶持をその身一生の内お下げ置かれ、もはや渡世いたす儀を止めて一生楽に送るようにとの件で、生国遠州へ立ち帰り、一人は近頃まで生存にて罷り在り、遠州近里の者が平生出会い、右無人島の物語、帰国以後御公儀にて段々御慈悲の次第、誠にありがたき御代なりと語りました。

Inquiry to the aforementioned seventeen people: Approximately how far do you think it is from the uninhabited island to Hachijojima?
1. Regarding the sea route from the aforementioned uninhabited island to Hachijojima, since we traveled by ship it is difficult to calculate, but as it took three days and three nights, we estimate that we covered approximately seven to eight hundred ri across the sea.
Also, afterward, the three men Jinpachi, Nisaburo, and Heisaburo, who had survived on the uninhabited island for over twenty years, were summoned. The husked rice that they had produced on the uninhabited island and brought here, which was deposited with the Hachijojima officials as mentioned previously, was to be presented to the government. Previously, when these men went to the town magistrate, they were accompanied by Yoda Yasuzaemon, a doshin from Hatchobori, and went to Fukiage.

This doshin Yasuzaemon served in Lord Yoda Buzen-no-kami's unit until age seventy-six, retired in the first year of Meiwa (Year of the Monkey), and is still alive today.
1. Regarding the three men from Arai in Enshu Province, who had suffered hardships on the uninhabited island for many years, [the authorities] took pity on them and granted each person a three-person stipend, totaling nine-person stipends for the three men, to be given for their entire lifetimes, so that they could stop working for their livelihood and live comfortably for the rest of their lives. They returned to their native Enshu Province, and one of them remained alive until recently. People from nearby areas in Enshu would meet with him regularly, and he would tell stories of the uninhabited island and relate how, after returning to Japan, the government showed them various acts of mercy, saying it was truly a blessed era.
