恩（おん）は、最（もツと）も有（あり）がたく感佩（かんぱい）に堪（た）へざる所（ところ）なれども、小臣（せうしん）本国（ほんごく）に猶（なほ）帝王（ていわう）のあ
るあり、容易（たやす）く節（せつ）を柱（ま）げて外国（ぐわいこく）の臣（しん）たることは、我国俗（わがこくぞく）の許（ゆる）さざる所（ところ）なり。
且（か）つは老母（らうぼ）妻子（さいし）兄弟（けいてい）の愛情（あいじやう）断（た）ちがたきと、食物（しよくもつ）言語（げんぎよ）に至（いた）るまで、百 事意（じい）

また老母・妻子・兄弟への愛情は断ち切り難く、食物・言語に至るまで、あらゆることが思うようにならないことが多い。なお一層の救恤として、速やかに本国に帰ることの恩恵をお願いしたい。と書き記して、酉年二月七日に、三回目の願書を提出し、その返事を待ったけれども、ただ年が変わるだけで何の沙汰もなかった。キリロが言うことには、

Moreover, the affection for our elderly mothers, wives, children, and brothers cannot be severed, and in everything from food to language, there are many things that do not suit our preferences. As an even greater act of benevolence, we humbly request the favor of swift return to our homeland. Writing this, on the 7th day of the 2nd month of the Year of the Rooster, they submitted their third petition and waited for a reply, but only the year changed with no word coming. Kirilo said,
"The reason your wish to return home is not granted is probably because your intent has not reached the king's ears. At this point, there is no method other than making a direct appeal to the king to settle this matter. I too will accompany you and ensure your wishes are fully realized." Following these words of deep kindness, they prepared to travel to the imperial capital of St. Petersburg, and on the 15th day of the 1st month of the Year of the Boar, the three—Kōdayū, Isokichi, and Kirilo—finally departed from this place.
During the journey they rode in a large sled, sleeping in it at night, and where the roads were poor they harnessed eighteen or nineteen horses, and where the roads were good, about eight or nine horses, so that sometimes they covered fifty to sixty ri in a day and night.

Sometimes they rode horses depending on the location, changing horses at each post station, and arrived around the sixth month. Prior to this, in the first month, crew member Kuemon died of illness, and among the three remaining in Irkutsk, sailors Shinzō and Shōzō had fallen gravely ill and were in critical condition when they heard that if they converted to that religion, they would surely recover at least once.
