Generally, women are not permitted to go out freely after the age of seven - this is the custom of this land. Now on a certain day in August of the same year, a marriage had been arranged for Kanbenkwan, the younger brother of Magoshichi's master, so taking this day as auspicious, they made various preparations for welcoming the bride. The items sent from the groom's side to the bride's side were: first, three layers of clothing in a beautiful box (all are single-layer garments; three layers for celebrations, four layers for non-celebrations), carried by one person. Next, six gold rings and two gold bracelets for the wrists, also in a box carried by one person. Next, twelve gold hairpins, likewise in a box carried by one person. Next, 120 mon in gold coins in a box (one mon exchanges for ten monme of silver) and one pair of shoes, carried by one person. When it ended and evening came around six o'clock, there would be the bride's palanquin procession. Among the items sent from the bride's side were: one box containing clothing, one drawstring purse, one hat covered with scarlet silk, six tied pillows (these are two types of pillows: hand pillows one shaku five sun long, foot pillows two shaku long, and leg pillows three shaku long, all in boxes), and they kept two mon from the money sent by the groom's side and returned the remaining 118 mon, and for the other items like pigs, chickens, and ducks, they kept the males and returned the females, and of the two large candles, they also returned one. Now at the time of the palanquin procession, two women of the same age wearing silk attended her, the bride showed her face openly, her hair was bound with gold thread cord, she wore one silver comb and twelve hairpins, earrings with jeweled ornaments hanging from her ears, gold rings on her hands and feet, dressed beautifully in magnificent clothing, with a canopy held over her, proceeding slowly and stately - it truly seemed like a procession of heavenly beings.
