見給えども、せめて一年に一度二度と定め給う者なり。その故は、身の著しく汚れる度ごとに清めるごとく、アニマ（魂）も悪を以て度々汚れるによって、度々コンフィサンを申して清むべき事肝要なり。また死するる難儀に及ばん時と、貴きエウカリスチア（聖体）を授かり奉らんと思い立つ時、コンフィサンを申すべし。これ即ち犯せる罪を犯しけると明に弁え、また疑う心有るにおいては、デウス（神）の御定めに随ってコンフィサンを申すべきなり。

...you can see, but [the Church] has established [the rule of] at least once or twice a year. The reason is that just as we cleanse the body each time it becomes severely polluted, so too must the anima (soul), which is frequently defiled by evil, be frequently cleansed through confession. Moreover, confession should be made when facing the difficulty of death, and when one resolves to receive the precious Eucharistia (Eucharist). This should be done whenever one clearly recognizes having committed mortal sins, or when one has doubts about such matters, in accordance with Deus's (God's) ordinances.
