弟 此等の科をそうじてもるたる科と云事

師 をよそ是皆もるたる科なりと云へども事
によりてべにある科となる事おほし
弟 もるたるといへるいはれはいかん
師 もるたるとは死るをさづくると云心也あ
にまの一命はでうすのがらさよりうけつゝ
き奉る也もるたる科はあにまの命をたつ
によてもるたると云也然れどもあにまの正
体はをはる事なき者なれば死るをさづ
くるとて其時をはりありとおもふ事な
かれたゝいつまでもくるしみをうくる所を
さして死すると云也

現代語訳
弟子：これらの罪を総じて大罪と言うことはいかん。
師：およそこれらは皆大罪なりと言えども、事によって小罪となることが多し。
弟子：「大罪」と言われる理由はいかん。
師：大罪とは死を授けると言う意味である。魂の一命は神の恩寵より受け継ぎ奉るものである。大罪は魂の命を断つによって大罪と言うのである。しかれども魂の正体は終わることなき者なれば、死を授けるといってもその時終わりありと思うことなかれ。ただいつまでも苦しみを受ける所を指して死すると言うのである。
弟子：大罪は魂の為にいかなる損

Disciple: What is the reason they are called "mortal"?
Master: "Mortal" means to bestow death. The life of the soul is received and inherited from God's grace. Mortal sins are called "mortal" because they cut off the life of the soul. However, since the true nature of the soul is something that never ends, even though it receives death, do not think that it has an end at that time. It is simply called "death" referring to the place where one suffers eternally.
