いですをうしなふ道はひいですの事を
いづれなりとも信じ奉らぬ事也それに
よてもるたる科ををかすとてもきりし
たんのひるかえす事にはあらず
弟 もるたる科をもてでうすのがらさをう
しなひ奉るにをひてはゑけれじやへ参り
おらしよを申善事ぜんごんを致す事
もゑきなしや
師 すこしも其儀にあらず其時こそいよ〳〵あ
ゆみをはこびおらしよを申力の及ぶほど
善事をすべき事肝要なれ其故は其時
なをなんぎにあふ故也其外善事より
出るくどく是おほしとりはき我が身をか
へり見科をこうくはひし以後二度おかす

信仰を失う道は、信仰の事をいずれなりとも信じ奉らない事である。それによって大罪を犯すとしても、キリスト教徒でなくなることではない。
弟子：大罪をもって神の恩寵を失い奉るにおいては、教会へ参り、祈りを申し、善事善行を致すことも益なしや。
師：少しもそのようなことではない。その時こそますます歩みを運び、祈りを申し、力の及ぶほど善事をすべきことが肝要である。その故は、その時なお難儀に遭う故である。その外、善事より出る功徳は、これ多し。取り分け我が身を省み、罪を後悔し、以後二度犯す

...the way to lose faith is to refuse to believe in any of the matters of faith. Therefore, even if we commit mortal sins, it does not mean we cease to be Christians.
Disciple: When we lose God's grace through mortal sin, is there no benefit in going to church, praying, and performing good deeds and virtuous acts?
Master: It is not so at all. It is precisely at such times that we should make every effort to go [to church], pray, and perform as many good deeds as our strength allows - this is essential. The reason is that at such times we still face difficulties. Moreover, the merits that come from good deeds are many. Particularly, examining ourselves, repenting our sins, and [resolving] never to commit them again twice...
