なつうらを与へ給へば也其証拠は作の物に
あらはるゝかつかくのせいとく也然にいしは
むまうしにあらす作も是にじゆんずし
きさうある物は四大よりわがうのものな
るによてまてりあと云事は一るひなれど
も正体はかつかく也其故は作のものはまてり
あ計を以て作られずほるまを以て作らるゝ
者也それによてまてりあは一るひなりとて
もほるまかはる時は正体もまつたくかはる也
たとへはおなじ木にてむまもうしも
作ると云へどもほるまかはるが故にむまは
うしにあらず此等の事をくはしく分
別したきとおもふにをひてはかてきずもに
のせたる事をよまるべし
現代語訳
性質を与え給うからです。その証拠は作られた物に現れる各々の性質・性徳です。しかし石は馬や牛ではありません。作られた物もこれに準じます。
形相のある物は四大より我が有の物であるによって、マテリア（質料）ということは一類なれども、正体は各々異なります。その故は作られた物はマテリアのみを以て作られず、フォルマ（形相）を以て作られる者だからです。それによってマテリアは一類なりといえども、フォルマが変わる時は正体も全く変わります。
たとえば同じ木で馬も牛も作ると言えども、フォルマが変わるが故に馬は牛ではありません。これ等の事を詳しく分別したいと思うにおいては、カテキズモ（教理問答書）に載せたる事を読まるべしです。
英語訳
...nature because He gives each its appropriate nature. The proof of this is the individual natures and virtues that appear in created things. However, a stone is not a horse or cow. Created things also follow this principle.
Things that have form are of our own substance derived from the four elements, so while materia (matter) may be of one type, their true essence is distinct for each. The reason is that created things are not made from materia alone, but are made with forma (form). Therefore, even though materia may be of one type, when forma changes, the true essence changes completely.
For example, even though one might make both a horse and a cow from the same wood, because the forma differs, the horse is not a cow. If you wish to understand these matters in greater detail, you should read what is written in the catechism.
