　宗門可繁昌此宗門深志之者之内若年に而諸道に
　流通し不習して容学之者可出来是天人也其時
　はかならす東西之天雲炎上して枯木不時に花咲
　へし野も山と諸人之住所も悉く込山野には白い旗
　を立諸人之頭にクルスを立可申由申置候処に今
　年に相当り候天草大矢野益田四郎は比天気に
　相当れり不思義成る事と人申あへり宗門帰復
　し彼四郎を信仰仕候事難勝斗也旦又クルスと
　いふは南蛮之甲之立物に而是を日本之立物に用
　申由也

又日其比天草領に大矢野村に益田四郎時定と申今年
　拾六歳に罷成神変奇異之《割書：曲｜》者あり父も大矢野村
　に居住し益田甚兵衛と申て元来小西摂津守行長に
　仕て罷在候処に行長滅亡以後浪人と成て多年彼村に
　令居宅密に吉利支丹を勧背　公儀伴天連之
　頭取也しか四郎幼少之時は肥後国宇土郡熊本之
　城主細川越中守忠利之家中須佐美半之丞と申給
　士之方に小性奉公仕候得共学問修行之志しと申立
　暇を取近年は父と一所に能在宗門を勧廻りしか今
　年初秋之比より頻りに宗門を勧類門之輩皆々

宗門は繁昌するであろう。この宗門に深い志を持つ者の内から、若年でありながら諸道に通じ、習わずして容学の者が出現するであろう。これは天人である。その時は必ず東西の天に雲が炎上し、枯木が時ならずに花を咲かせるであろう。野も山も諸人の住所もすべて込み入った山野には白い旗を立て、諸人の頭にクルスを立てるであろう」と申し置いたところ、今年にその時が当たっている。天草の大矢野益田四郎は、この天候の変化に当てはまっており、不思議なことだと人々が申し合っている。宗門が復活し、その四郎を信仰することは計り知れないほどである。また、クルスというのは南蛮の甲の立物であり、これを日本の立物に用いると申すことである。

また記すには、その頃天草領の大矢野村に益田四郎時定と申す、今年十六歳になる神変奇異の者がいる。父も大矢野村に居住し、益田甚兵衛と申して、元来小西摂津守行長に仕えていたが、行長滅亡の後、浪人となって多年その村に居住し、密かに切支丹を勧め、公儀に背いて伴天連の頭取となっている。しかし四郎は幼少の時、肥後国宇土郡熊本の城主細川越中守忠利の家中、須佐美半之丞という武士のもとで小性奉公をしていたが、学問修行の志があると申し立てて暇を取り、近年は父と一緒にいてよく在宗門を勧めて回っている。そして今年初秋の頃より頻りに宗門を勧め、類門の輩は皆々

"The sect shall flourish. Among those with deep devotion to this sect, there will appear a young person who, though untrained, will be versed in various ways and possess natural learning. This person is a heavenly being. At that time, clouds will surely flame up in the eastern and western skies, withered trees will bloom unseasonably, and throughout fields, mountains, and all human dwellings in the crowded wilderness, white flags will be raised and crosses will be placed on people's heads." As it was written, this year corresponds to that time. Masuda Shirō of Ōyano in Amakusa matches these weather phenomena, and people say it is a mysterious thing. It is also recorded that at that time in Ōyano village in Amakusa domain, there was a person of divine and miraculous nature named Masuda Shirō Tokisada, who turned sixteen this year. His father also resided in Ōyano village and was called Masuda Jinbei.
