　之船にて有馬村へ被遣角蔵三吉弐人妻子共十
　六人搦捕十月廿五日之朝島原ゟ籠舎被申付候
又日南有馬庄屋次右衛門方角蔵北有馬百姓三
　吉搦捕島原え被召寄候跡に為見分甲斐野半
　之助と申侍小早之船に而被参候半之助に存候は有
　家村次川え船を着鉢島久太夫え相談致し案
　内者を召連可申与存有家村之庄屋源之丞次
　川之乙名善左衛門平作此者を船に乗北有馬
　蔵之下に船を着候得は百姓共余多押寄切支丹之
　宗旨を取返し可申由申候に付而漸々と船を漕出し

　申候所に石礫を打懸其上鉄炮に而打申候得は半之助
　道具之者に当り相果申候庄屋源之丞も手を負申
　候此船も九郎左衛門同前に新兵衛船に乗付新兵衛

小早船で有馬村へ遣わされ、角蔵三吉二人を妻子共十六人搦め捕り、十月二十五日の朝島原から籠舎を申し付けられた。
また同日、南有馬の庄屋次右衛門方の角蔵と北有馬百姓三吉を搦め捕って島原へ召し寄せた後、見分のため甲斐野半之助という侍が小早船で参った。半之助の考えでは、有家村次川へ船を着け、鉢島久太夫へ相談して案内者を召し連れようと思い、有家村の庄屋源之丞と次川の乙名善左衛門、平作をこの者を船に乗せ、北有馬蔵の下に船を着けたところ、百姓共が大勢押し寄せ、キリシタンの宗旨を取り返そうと申すので、漸々と船を漕ぎ出した

ところ、石礫を打ち懸け、その上鉄砲で撃ってきたので、半之助の道具持ちに当たって死んでしまった。庄屋源之丞も手を負った。この船も九郎左衛門と同様に新兵衛の船に乗り付け、新兵衛に様子を話した。

[They] were sent to Arima village by small fast boat, arrested Kakuzo and Sankichi along with their wives and children, sixteen people in total, and on the morning of October 25th were ordered to imprison them from Shimabara.
Also on the same day, after arresting Kakuzo from the house of village headman Jiemon of Minami-Arima and peasant Sankichi of Kita-Arima and summoning them to Shimabara, a samurai named Kaino Hannosuke came by small fast boat for inspection. Hannosuke's plan was to dock the boat at Arie village Tsugikawa, consult with Hachishima Kyutayu, and bring along a guide. He took the village headman Gennosuke of Arie village and the deputy headmen Zenzaemon and Heisaku of Tsugikawa onto the boat, and when they docked below Kita-Arima's storehouse, many peasants pressed forward saying they would take back the Christian faith, so they gradually rowed the boat away.

At that point, [the peasants] threw stones at them, and furthermore shot at them with firearms, hitting and killing Hannosuke's equipment bearer. Village headman Gennosuke was also wounded. This boat, like Kuroemon's before, came alongside Shinbei's boat and told Shinbei what had happened.

According to Matsudaira's memorandum, on October 24th at a place called Okubo within Arima village, it was reported that a man called Kakuzaemon was gathering people to perform "koei" (prayers) and worship.
