　は跡に残し宗夫一所に城を可守迚則新兵衛
　主水大将として十月廿六日卯之刻島原を立
　て二里余之道を過辰之刻に深江村に押寄る
　敵も諏訪と馬場栗木林之前成る広場え出会
　道堀を前にして箕之手に備へ居敷て待請た
　り味方は懸りに道堀を越敵之合三十間斗
　にして互に鉄炮を一放つゝ打合申後に一揆
　之中ゟ三四人掛り懸出此方へかゝる所に桑野孫
　兵衛一番にかけ合なた長刀をもちかゝる敵
　壱人場中に而突留る北村市郎左衛門脇田勘

　蔵小崎伊兵衛見之其後敵味方入違爰を専途
　と相戦一揆之者共働といへとも即時に三四
　拾人討るゝ故堪難く引退候味方は競懸て敵
　を薮之中え追込思々に追懸討留る残る敵は
　四郎左衛門屋敷え取籠る此屋敷構表之石垣
　高廿五尺斗其上に柳を植前は堀入口違虎口
　也此所え岡本新兵衛多久市左衛門江間十兵
　衛先達而責入る所を石垣の上薮之内ゟ見下
　之石を以て新兵衛市左衛門を打すゆる早蓮
　之如く打破といへとも少もひるます立上り

主水を大将として十月二十六日卯の刻に島原を出発し
て二里余りの道のりを過ぎ、辰の刻に深江村に押し寄せた。
敵も諏訪と馬場栗木林の前にある広場に出てきて
道堀を前にして箕の手に陣を備えて待ち受けていた。
味方は勢いよく道堀を越え、敵との間三十間ほど
になって互いに鉄砲を一発ずつ撃ち合った後、一揆
の中から三、四人が駆け出してこちらに向かってきたところ、桑野孫
兵衛が一番に駆け合い、なたと長刀を持って向かってくる敵
一人を戦場の中で突き止めた。北村市郎左衛門、脇田勘

蔵、小崎伊兵衛がこれを見て、その後敵味方が入り乱れ、ここを主戦場
として戦い合った。一揆の者たちも奮戦したが、すぐに三、四
十人討たれたため堪えきれず退却した。味方は競って駆けて敵
を薮の中に追い込み、思い思いに追いかけて討ち取った。残った敵は
四郎左衛門屋敷に立て籠もった。この屋敷の構えは表の石垣の
高さが二十五尺ほど、その上に柳を植え、前は堀で入口は食い違い虎口
である。この場所に岡本新兵衛、多久市左衛門、江間十兵
衛が先頭に立って攻め入ったところ、石垣の上や薮の内から見下ろして
石を投げて新兵衛と市左衛門を打ちつけた。早い
矢のように激しく打ち付けられても少しもひるまず立ち上がり

battlefield where they fought fiercely. Although the rebels fought bravely, thirty or forty
of them were quickly killed, so they could not endure and retreated. Our forces competed to charge and drove the enemy
into the thickets, pursuing and striking them down as they saw fit. The remaining enemies
took refuge in Shiroemon's residence. This residence's fortification had stone walls in front
about twenty-five shaku high with willows planted on top, a moat in front, and a staggered koguchi entrance.
At this location, Okamoto Shinbei, Taku Ichizaemon, and Ema Juhei
led the attack, but from atop the stone walls and from within the thickets, looking down,
they threw stones, striking Shinbei and Ichizaemon. Though struck
as swiftly as arrows, they showed no fear and stood up
