　門際を見に石垣之上ゟ石を打申事夥し宅市
　右衛門も能働諸人も労れし故引取に浜辺を
　見れは一揆共跡へ廻申候諸人城え帰入時附
　入にゐとて一揆町を放火し大手門を鉞にて
　打破んとす然に城内より打出戦一揆を百三
　拾余人討殺す一揆敗軍に及引取

追撃してくることは計り難いので、まず城内へ帰り、長崎並びに豊後府内へも急報し、隣国の加勢を受けようとして人数を集めて引き取った。新兵衛の子である宅市右衛門などが庄屋の家へ押し込んだが、門際を見ると石垣の上から石を投げつけることが激しく、宅市右衛門もよく働いたが諸人も疲れたので引き取った。浜辺を見ると一揆勢が後ろへ回り込んでいた。諸人が城へ帰り入る時を狙って一揆勢が町に放火し、大手門を斧で打ち破ろうとした。しかし城内より打って出て戦い、一揆勢を百三十余人討ち殺した。一揆勢は敗軍となり引き取った。

They followed the samurai to that point, but instead the ashigaru and below joined with the peasants to attack our forces, so many were killed, and with only the samurai class there was no way to cope, and the remaining soldiers barely managed to return to the castle.
