とかやさはかりの扁鵲（へんしやく）だにも病（やまひ）の重（をもき）に至（いたり）ては逃走（にけはしり）て

治（ぢ）する事を得（え）ずされは良医（りやうい）の言（こと）をは能（よく）慎（つゝしみ）て聴（きく）へき
事にこそ今（いま）の世（よ）の医者（いしや）人（ひと）の為（ため）に病（やまひ）を治（ぢ）して其（その）重（をもき）に
至（いたり）て是を辞退（したい）するを世（よ）の諺（ことはざ）に是を逃（にくる）と云（いひ）て貶（をとしむる）やう
なれとも彼（かの）扁鵲（へんしやく）も桓公（くわんこう）の病（やまひ）を見（み）て逃（にけ）たりと有（ある）なれ
は是 医者（いしやの）にげたる濫觴（らんしやう）と云（いひ）つへしされは古今（ここん）
天下（てんか）に一人（いちにん）の明医（めいい）さへ逃（にくる）なれは今（いま）の医（い）のおきつこ
ろびつ逃（にくる）をも笑（わらふ）へき事にもあらずかし
腹痛論
○腹痛（ふくつう）とは腹（はら）の痛（いたむ）病（やまひ）なり凡（をよそ）腹痛（ふくつう）寒熱（かんねつ）あり虚実（きよじつ）

疾患があり、血脈にある。治療しなければ必ず深くなるであろう」と。後に五日、また面会して言うには「君に疾患があり、腸胃の間にある。治療しなければ必ず深くなるであろう」と。後に五日、桓公を遠くから見て退き走って言うには「疾患が腠理にある時は湯熨の及ぶところである。血脈にある時は鍼石の及ぶところである。腸胃にある時は酒醪の及ぶところである。それが骨髄にある時は、司命といえどもこれをどうすることもできない。今や骨髄にあり、臣はこれゆえに治療を請け負うことはできない」と。後に五日して桓公が病気になり、あの扁鵲を召したけれども、扁鵲はすでに逃げ去り、桓公はついに崩御なさったということである。これほどの扁鵲でさえも、病気が重くなってからは逃走して

治療することができなかった。だから良医の言葉はよく慎んで聞くべきことである。今の世の医者が人のために病気を治療して、その病気が重くなってからこれを辞退するのを、世の諺でこれを「逃げる」と言って貶めるようであるが、あの扁鵲も桓公の病気を見て逃げたとあるのだから、これは医者が逃げることの濫觴と言うべきであろう。だから古今天下に一人の名医でさえ逃げるのだから、今の医者がおろおろして逃げるのも笑うべきことではないのである。
