癲狂論
○癲狂（てんきやう）とは俗（ぞく）に云（いふ）乱心気違（らんしんきちかひ）なり此症（このしやう）の発（をこる）事 其（その）病（ひやう）
因（ゐん）も亦（また）種々（しゆ〳〵）なり或（あるひ）は生質（むまれつき）の痴（をろか）【癡は旧字体】に鈍（にぶ）く狂（くるひ）躁（さはかし）き者（もの）漸（せん）
漸（せん）其（その）愚性（ぐせい）を増長（そうちやう）して是を為（なす）事あり其外（そのほか）は皆（みな）病（やまひ）
に因（よる）古来（こらい）其（その）病因（ひやうゐん）を述（のふる）る事 多（おほ）し古人（こしん）の説（せつ）に癲狂（てんきやう）の

額を爛れさせるほど働いて、ようやく事は静まった。さてあの情の強い主人も、さてそのままでは済ませられなくて、酒を買い牛を殺して、働いてくれた人々にもてなしをしてこれを謝した。するとまたある人がこれを見て「今この人々を謝するには、なおこれよりも謝すべき人がいるだろう」と言ったので、主人は「それはどういうことか」と問うた。
「それは初めに煙突を曲げて薪を移せと言った人に従っていれば、この騒動もなかっただろうから、牛酒の費用も必要なかっただろう。だからこの人の功績は、あの頭を焦がし額を爛れさせた人よりもはるかに優れているだろう」と言ったということである。今この労症を論じる

のは、あの煙突を曲げて薪を移せと言ったのと同じであろう。これに従わずして病気になるに至っては、頭を焦がし額を爛れさせても真に益はないだろう。
癲狂論
○癲狂とは俗に言う乱心・気違いのことである。この症状の起こることは、その病因も亦種々である。或いは生まれつきの愚鈍で狂躁な者が、漸々その愚性を増長してこれになることがある。その外は皆病気による。古来その病因を述べることは多い。古人の説に「癲狂の病は総て心火のために乗ぜられ、神舎を守らざるの一言」
