酒説養生論序
ある日、私の友人である草洲子が『酒説養生論』を持参して私に示し、「この書は家に蔵すること久しい。その説はなかなか見るべき所があるものである。今、その重複する部分を削り、その誤りを訂正して、これの清書をなし、以て自らの戒めとしている。どうか君がその疑わしい点を決断し、その可否を定めて、伝えることができるようにしてほしい」と言った。私はそれを得て読んだのである。

Preface to the Discourse on Sake and Life Cultivation
One day, my friend Sōshū-shi brought the "Discourse on Sake and Life Cultivation" and showed it to me, saying: "This book has been stored in my house for a long time. Its discourse contains quite a bit worth observing. Now I have pruned its redundancies, corrected its errors, and made a clean copy of it to serve as my own admonition. I hope you will resolve its doubtful points and determine its merits and demerits, so that it may be transmitted." I obtained it and read it.
