【望月次郎の台詞】
なるほど、勝手にしまいさ。
【本文】
望月太郎は、高梨の家来である喜久治を招き、様々にもてなし、姫の所望をした。もし承諾がなければ、後ろから殺すつもりで謀っていた。酒が酣（たけなわ）になったところで料理が出され、その前で浅衣のことを言い出したところ、「とても承知いたしかねます」と申したとき、飯の蓋を取ると、その湯気が恐ろしくも右へ巻き上がり、殺気を表した。喜久治は「この飯は食べますまい」と箸を懐中にした。後ろから望月次郎がただ一太刀で喜久治を斬り放した。
【望月次郎の台詞】
死骸を持ってきて見せて、晴らしてしまえ。ふさふさしい、こんなことなら来なければよかったものを。忌々しい。
【喜久治の台詞】
あら不思議や、我が首を斬られると思ったが、諏訪の御箸を懐中すると同時に、命助かり、その場を逃れた。

**[Narrative Text]**
Mochizuki Tarō invited Kikuji, a retainer of Takanashi, and entertained him lavishly, then made his request for the princess. If Kikuji would not comply, Tarō had plotted to kill him from behind. When the sake was flowing freely and the food was served, Tarō brought up the matter of Asaginu. When Kikuji replied, "I cannot possibly agree to this," Tarō lifted the lid of the rice bowl, and the steam rose terrifyingly to the right, manifesting a murderous intent. Kikuji said, "I shall not eat this rice," and secreted the chopsticks in his breast pocket. From behind, Mochizuki Jirō cut at Kikuji with a single stroke of his sword.
**[Dialogue of Mochizuki Jirō]**
"Bring the corpse here, show it, and be done with it. What a nuisance — if it was going to come to this, he shouldn't have come at all. How vexing!"
**[Dialogue of Kikuji]**
"How wondrous! I thought my head would be cut off, but the moment I placed the Suwa chopsticks in my breast pocket, my life was saved, and I escaped from that place."
