【本文】
神事の奇特によって命をお助けいただいたのも、また四足の獣を食べる者も、諏訪の御箸を受けて食べれば穢れないという。京都長（堀）洞院三条下ル諏訪町にある、この所に諏訪の箸を出す家がある。この箸を得て四足（の獣）を食べれば穢れないという。
望月兄弟は喜久治の死骸を見ると、それ（喜久治）ではなく、老いた鹿であったので、「これはこれは」と肝をつぶした。（これは喜久治の）身代わりであった。
諏訪明神は特に急難をお救いくださる。もとより喜久治は（諏訪明神の）神者（神に仕える者）であった。
【諏訪の不思議・その四つ目】
その四つ目は、氷の御橋のことである。冬、諏訪の湖が凍るとき、まず「さわたり」といって、きつねが（湖を）渡り始め、その後、人馬が氷の上を通行する。また、きつねが渡れば、通行を止める。これが湖水の神事である。
氷が結ぶこと三日三夜に及ぶと、上の宮より下の宮（の浜）においでになり、佐久の郡・荒海の明神と邂逅なさる。厚さは三尺・四尺にも及ぶというが、それでも砕けて、魚の鱗のように重なり、渡御の後は道のように見える。比類なき氷の橋を、千代をかけて神ぞ渡られる、諏訪の水海（みずうみ）よ。

**[Narrative Text]**
It is through the miraculous power of the divine rite that Kikuji's life was saved. Moreover, it is said that even those who eat four-legged beasts will not be defiled if they eat using the sacred Suwa chopsticks. In Kyoto, on Suwa-chō, which runs south of the intersection of Tōin and Sanjō streets, there is a house that sells Suwa chopsticks. It is said that by obtaining these chopsticks and eating four-legged animals, one will not be defiled.
When the Mochizuki brothers looked upon what they thought was Kikuji's corpse, it was not Kikuji at all, but an aged deer — at which they were utterly dumbfounded. It had been a substitute in his place.
Suwa Myōjin is especially swift in saving people from sudden peril. Kikuji had always been a devoted servant of the deity.
**[The Fourth Wonder of Suwa]**
The fourth wonder concerns the Ice Bridge. In winter, when Lake Suwa freezes over, first come what are called the "fox crossings" — foxes begin to cross, and only after that do people and horses pass over the ice. Conversely, when foxes are seen crossing, it signals that the crossing season is coming to a close. This is the sacred rite of the lake waters.
When the ice has bound for three days and three nights, the deity travels from the Upper Shrine down to the shore of the Lower Shrine, and there encounters the deity of Arami in Saku District. Though the ice grows to three or even four *shaku* in thickness, it still breaks apart, piling up like fish scales, and the path of the divine procession remains visible like a road. A bridge of ice like no other — across which the god has crossed for a thousand ages — this is the lake of Suwa.
