このような喜ばしい折であるからと、喜久治を呼び出し、一部始終をお聞きになった。さて、この縁を定めた願文を奉じて越中の国の卯坂へ参った時に、たびたびの年増女と契約があると言う。それならばと、
越中の国へあぐりを迎えに遣わした。村の衆は見送りをした。
そもそも前代未聞の話のたねではあるが、しかし今の時代とは違い、古い時代にはみなあのような具合であったのだろう。神代のて奈津智【手名椎】夫婦は八十九歳にして十五歳の稲田姫を娶った。
このあぐりの甥を源五平という。このたびあぐりが長年の願いで嫁入りするとのことで、近郷の村人たちが祝って見送りをした。しかるに年齢は四十九歳である。これによって諺に「源五平のおばばは四十九で白妙の嫁入りをする」と言う。俗説はこの事によるものであろう。

This is an altogether unheard-of story, but then, times were different long ago, and in ancient times things were all done in that fashion. In the age of the gods, the couple Tenazuchi and his wife took the fifteen-year-old Inadahime as a bride at the age of eighty-nine.
This Aguri's nephew is called Genpei. On this occasion, Aguri was finally fulfilling her long-held wish to be a bride, so the people of the neighboring villages celebrated and came to see her off. She was forty-nine years of age. It is from this that the proverb arose: "Genpei's old granny enters the bridal procession at forty-nine, dressed in white." The popular saying likely derives from this very event.
