現代語訳
望月三郎と浅ぎぬ姫は深い契りを結び、ついに懐妊した。男子をもうけるようにと、大きな木の枝のしもとで、三郎が姫のお尻を打ちなさった。これより安産・子安のまじないとなった。

「このような目出たいことはない。やれうれしや、うれしや。」
【若い家来の台詞】
「御祝儀、あいすみましたら御吸い物を出します。今晩は夜もすがらの御酒宴で、式法あいすみましたならば、めでたく二上り・三下りあい、老いも若きも獅子の所作を御目にかけ申し上げようと申しつけておきましてございます。」
【本文続き】
喜久治とあぐりも懐妊した。あぐりが八八の数・七七の数来たりて夫婦となり、これも五十歳にて初産が滞りないようにと、喜久治もお尻をぱっと打ちて、浅ぎぬもあぐりもやすやすと男子をもうけたる。めでたし。

「これ、女房とも、そなたと俺が濡れ事は、弓矢浜の飾り物ときている。」
「それは悪い御見立てで。おまえとわしが身は、昔の沢村訥子・瀬川仙魚じゃわいな。」
英語訳
Mochizuki Saburō and Princess Asaginu had pledged their hearts deeply to one another, and at last she became with child. In hopes of bearing a son, Saburō struck the princess's bottom with a branch of a great tree. From this, it became a charm for safe and easy delivery.
【Old woman】
"There is nothing more joyous than this! Oh, how happy I am, how happy!"
【Young attendant】
"Once the congratulatory ceremony is done, I shall bring out the soup. Tonight, for the all-night banquet, once the formal rites are concluded, we have arranged to auspiciously perform the Nidagari and Sagari-san【musical modes】, and to present for your viewing the lion dance, for young and old alike."
【Narrative continuation】
Kikuji and Aguri also conceived. Aguri, having passed through the count of eighty-eight years and seventy-seven years, became husband and wife with Kikuji; and so that her first delivery at fifty might also go smoothly, Kikuji too gave her bottom a firm smack — and both Asaginu and Aguri delivered sons with ease. A most auspicious ending.

"Now, wife, you and I carrying on like this is like decorations on the bow-and-arrow beach — all for show and ceremony, people say."
