「出雲の神様のご縁結びで、あなた様と夫婦になります。七七（四十九）の歳が来たならば、あなたはきっとわたしのお手参じゃ（手伝い）にいらっしゃいませ。必ず必ず、忘れなさいますなよ。」
【本文】
高梨の家来に、乾（いぬい）喜久治というお侍で、年四十五歳になるまで不犯（ふぼん）にして、しょうじょう（生涯）の男でありましたので、姫の名代として卯坂参詣に信願を祈って、（巫女に）尻を打たれたのでした。
互いに、これも前世からの腐れ縁か、「八八（六十四）の歳が来たならば、女房じゃぞ」と（誓い合いました）。
卯坂の社に、三十余歳まで不犯にして神事を務める、あぐりという巫女がおりました。
喜久治の尻を打って、その後、互いの身の上を語り合い、男女の陽精が上がった後、「必ず必ず夫婦になろう」と約束しました。
女は十四歳にして月経（かつけい）いたる。七七四十九にして経水（けいすい）上がる。男は十六にして精通ずれば、八八六十四まで陽精を保つ。
これは上代（じょうだい）における男女の古法（こほう）であります。しかればこそ、古人は百歳まで寿ぎ、めでたし、めでたし。

**[Dialogue of the shrine maiden Aguri]**
"By the divine matchmaking of the gods of Izumo, I shall become your wife. When the year of seven-times-seven — forty-nine — arrives, you must surely come to assist me. Please, do not ever forget this promise!"
**[Narrative]**
Among the retainers of Takanashi was a samurai called Inui Kikuji, who, until the age of forty-five, had lived in complete celibacy — a man of lifelong purity. He had therefore come to Usaka on pilgrimage as a proxy for the princess, offered up his sincere prayers, and had his buttocks struck by the shrine maiden.
The two of them spoke to each other, thinking: surely this too must be a bond from a previous life — a fated tie, however unexpected. "When the year of eight-times-eight — sixty-four — arrives, you shall be my wife!" they vowed.
At the Usaka shrine there was a shrine maiden named Aguri, who had likewise maintained her celibacy until past the age of thirty, devoting herself to the sacred rites.
After striking Kikuji's buttocks, the two shared the stories of their lives with one another. As their mutual vital energy (*yōsei*) was aroused, they made a solemn promise: "We shall absolutely, without fail, become husband and wife."
A woman's monthly cycle begins at the age of fourteen, and ceases at seven-times-seven — forty-nine. A man experiences his first emission at sixteen, and retains his vital essence until eight-times-eight — sixty-four.
This is the ancient law governing men and women from high antiquity. It is for this reason that people of old were able to celebrate their hundredth year. How auspicious! How truly auspicious!
