予に贈る然而に此荘の蔵本には作者の序跋目録あ
り此本にはなし故にこれを補入す

この巻に記載された五郎丸主従の衣服を見て、その頃白川侯が御補佐の時代に世の中が一変した有様を目の当たりに見る心地がする。すべて一部の趣向がよく流行を看破している。この荘（椎園）はかつてこの草子を所蔵していたが、この頃また一本を得たとして私に贈ってくれた。しかしながら、この荘の蔵本には作者の序跋・目録があるが、この本にはない。故にこれを補入する。

Looking at the clothing of Goromaru and his retainers recorded in this volume, one feels as if witnessing firsthand the transformation of society during the time when Lord Shirakawa served as regent. The conception of this entire work skillfully penetrates the fashions of the time. This manor owner (Shiien) once possessed this booklet, and recently obtained another copy which he presented to me. However, while this manor owner's collection includes the author's preface, postscript, and table of contents, this copy lacks them. Therefore, I supplement them here.
