現代語訳
るとは風来か妙言である。ここに鎌倉の巽、大磯の縄町に「鶴が岡屋」という大きな暖簾をかけた茶屋の賑わい。煎り酒の香りが万客の鼻を連ねさせ、料理場は湯気が立ち上って霧の深いかのごとく、駒下駄を持って帰る回し（仲居）があれば、火打箱に上草履を結び付けて提げて来る船頭あり、口のかかる芸妓があれば、相手を変えて帰る舞妓あり、婢女は素足で飛んで会所に至り、鰈の煮付けは細生姜を背負って器に踊る。

This is either whimsical or clever expression. Here in the southeast of Kamakura, in Nawa-machi of Oiso, stands a teahouse called "Tsurugaoka-ya" with large curtains hanging, bustling with activity. The aroma of refined sake draws countless customers by the nose, and the kitchen has steam rising up like thick fog. There are waitresses carrying wooden clogs back, boatmen coming with tinderboxes tied to their upper sandals, geishas soliciting customers, dancing girls returning after switching partners, and maidservants running barefoot to the meeting place where simmered flounder dances in bowls, garnished with thin ginger.
