「鰯の汁の中へ一袋三文の唐辛子をふりかけて、小汗をかいて食う太郎。」
丁「もしもし、まあ静かにしておくんなさい。私が悪かったら謝りましょう。あんまり出過ぎて、失礼でした。」
梶「なんだ、失礼だと？失礼がからけりゃあ、なんと唐辛子や山葵はどうだ。蕪を売って裏店へ引っ込むがいい。これ、お前はまあ何屋から出る奉公人だ。それとも名前だけの出居衆で亭主を騙すのか。うう、わかったぞ。さっきから度々廊下へ出るが、何だな。客が来たからこっちの悪いのを待たせておくのか。経師屋の達摩か宗十郎の似顔でもあるまいが、横目で睨んでもやるものじゃない。はあ、これから一番胸が悪くて、俺が帰り切り込み比べだ。まあそう思って、向こうの野郎にも往生させ、身上に縄を付け」
