之儀一向不仕候由申上候趣願面ニ相見猶又少々
宛も返済仕候趣も相見江候得共亡父存生中も
少々之金子ニ御座候得共両度も相渡其上内
外極難渋ニ付右三人者江追々申延仕置
得心ニ而存生中相延呉其後六兵衛死後迚も
格別之催促も無之去年中江戸表出訴ニ付
入用金等も有之候趣故難渋之私ニは御座候得共
親類共打寄才覚之上金弐両相渡又々去暮
右衆中帰国之砌割合致勘定書催促有之
候ニ付無拠才覚仕候而金壱両弐分右之内江相渡シ

度々催促有之候ニ付御存被成下候通難渋故追々
請取呉候様無心申候得共聞入無之誠ニ無拠
出訴ニ相成奉恐入候何卒以 御慈悲私御存被
成候通難渋者御座候御利解被成下追々請取

私儀は未年若ニ而母養育も難出来松本
御城下江奉公ニ罷越母義ハ親類共へ助合
ヲ以様々今日凌罷在候仕合極難渋之身分
御座候得共前文奉申上候通追々にて請取呉

御慈悲被 仰付被下置候様奉願上候御事

【右丁】
その件については一切返済していないと申し上げている趣旨が願書面に見られますが、さらにまた少しずつでも返済したという趣旨も見受けられます。亡父の存命中も少額の金子ではありますが、二度にわたって相手方に渡し、その上で内外ともに極めて困窮しているため、右の三人に対して追々返済を延期してもらうよう申し延べ、相手方の了承を得て存命中は延期してもらいました。その後六兵衛の死後も格別な催促もありませんでしたが、去年中に江戸表で出訴するための費用などもあったという事情により、困窮している私ではありますが、親類たちが寄り合って工面した上で金二両を相手方に渡し、また去年の暮れに右の人々が帰国した際に割合を計算した勘定書で催促があったため、やむを得ず工面して金一両二分を右の分に渡しました。

度々催促があったため、ご存知いただいている通り困窮しているので追々受け取ってくれるよう無心を申しましたが、聞き入れてもらえず、誠にやむを得ず出訴となり恐れ入っております。何卒お慈悲をもって、私がご存知の通り困窮者であることをご理解いただき、追々受け取ってくれるよう仰せ付けていただきますようお願い申し上げます。
私は未だ年若く、母の養育も困難なため松本のお城下へ奉公に参り、母は親類たちの助け合いによって様々に今日をしのいで暮らしております。境遇は極めて困窮した身分でありますが、前文で申し上げた通り、追々にでも受け取ってもらえれば、追々返済いたしたく存じます。この段、お慈悲をもって仰せ付けていただきますようお願い申し上げます。

Regarding this matter, the petition states that no repayments have been made at all, but it also indicates that small amounts have indeed been repaid. During my late father's lifetime, though they were small sums of money, he paid the three creditors twice, and due to extreme financial hardship both internally and externally, he repeatedly requested extensions from these three people. With their understanding, the debt was extended during his lifetime. After Rokubei's death, there were no particular demands for payment, but last year there were expenses related to filing a lawsuit in Edo. Despite my financial difficulties, relatives gathered together to raise funds and paid two ryō to them. Also, when these people returned to their home province last winter, they presented a calculation statement demanding proportional payment, so I was compelled to raise one ryō and two bu to pay toward this amount.

As there were repeated demands for payment, I pleaded for them to accept gradual payments since, as you well know, I am in financial distress, but they would not listen. This truly unavoidably led to this lawsuit, for which I deeply apologize. I humbly request that you show mercy and, understanding that I am in financial difficulty as you know, order them to accept gradual payments.
I am still young, and as it is difficult to care for my mother, I went to serve in Matsumoto castle town, while my mother survives day to day with various assistance from relatives. Our circumstances are of extremely impoverished status, but as I stated above, if they would accept gradual payments, I would like to make gradual repayments. I humbly request that you mercifully order this arrangement.
