現代語訳

【右丁】
恐れながら口上書をもって願い上げ申し上げます件
私は今まで藍瓶十五瓶で紺屋の仕事をしておりましたが、今年から十三瓶にしたく存じます。ついては、願い上げ申し上げます。
右の趣旨、何卒ご慈悲をもって願いの通りお取り計らいくださいますならば、ありがたき仕合わせと存じます。以上

I have been operating as a dyer with fifteen indigo vats until now, but from this year I wish to reduce the number to thirteen vats. Therefore, I humbly submit this petition.

The above petition was submitted through the usual procedure with official seal at the government office, with Iguchi Sadaemon serving as intermediary. In the evening, we received a letter from the same official indicating approval, so district representative Tōemon was summoned and informed. This occurred on the 21st day.
