去る初秋に拝謁し、貴国が寡人即位の祝儀を奏達したところ、使者具志州王子が初夏の旬八に中山国に来着した。まずは御幕下が安閑無事であることを報告し、千喜万悦、多幸である。また三老の指南により、具志州が登城して両大君を拝し、その後江城で辞去の日に至るまで、寡夫は恭しく嘉寿の奉書を承り、並びに屏風・白銀を賜った。使者は衣服・白銀を拝領するのみならず、僕従等もまた白銀を拝受する辱を蒙り、誠に恐悦、計り知れないものである。これにより臣は兼城をもって俯して謝礼を述べ、万々乙として軽微な土産を奉進献するのみである。なお薩州太守充久が演説を致すべき間、筆を閣いて候。恐惶頓首。

Tadakatsu

To the King of Chūzan
　　before the residence

Last early autumn, when I had an audience and your country conveyed congratulations for my enthronement, the envoy Prince Gushishū arrived in Chūzan Kingdom on the 18th of early summer. First, I report that Your Excellency under the shogunate remains peaceful and well, which brings me a thousand joys and ten thousand delights, great fortune indeed. Moreover, under the guidance of the Three Elders, Gushishū ascended to the castle and paid respects to both Great Lords, and thereafter until the day of departure at Egusuku, I humbly received congratulatory letters and was granted folding screens and silver. Not only did the envoy receive clothing and silver, but his retinue was also honored to receive silver. This truly fills me with awe and joy beyond measure. Therefore, this vassal, through Kanegusuku, humbly expresses gratitude and respectfully presents only these humble local products. As Lord Satsuma Mitsuhisa will provide detailed explanation, I close my brush here. With fear and reverence, I bow deeply.
