国頭王子

昨年の秋、貴国に拝謁し、貴大君（将軍）が先代からの治世を継承され国家を平定された祝儀を奉達いたしました。その使者として国頭王子が春の二十八日に中山国に来着し、大老の指示により、国頭王子が江戸城に登城して貴大君を拝謁いたしました。その後、江戸城を辞去する日に、私（中山王）は恭しく懇款なる金書（書状）を承り、並びに真綿・白銀を賜り、径（直接）数に依りて頂戴いたしました。使者は衣服・白銀を拝領し、従僕等もまた衣服・白銀を拝受いたしました。誠に私の恐悦は計り知れないものでございます。これにより小臣屋富祖をもって謝礼万乙を述べ、仰ぎ奉りて軽微な土産を進献するのみでございます。なお薩摩少将（島津光久）が詳しく説明できますので、ここで筆を閣（おき）ます。恐惶頓首。

Prince Kunigami

Last autumn, I paid respects to your country and conveyed congratulations for your Great Lord (Shogun) inheriting the governance from his predecessor and pacifying the nation. As an envoy for this purpose, Prince Kunigami arrived in the Kingdom of Chūzan on the twenty-eighth day of spring, and following the instructions of the Great Elder, Prince Kunigami ascended to Edo Castle and paid respects to your Great Lord. Later, on the day of departure from Edo Castle, I (the King of Chūzan) humbly received your gracious golden letter (official document), along with gifts of raw cotton and silver, which I received directly according to their quantities. The envoy received clothing and silver, and the attendants also were honored to receive clothing and silver. Truly, my gratitude and joy cannot be measured. Therefore, through my retainer Yafuso, I express my gratitude and humbly present these modest local products. Since Satsuma Shōshō (Shimazu Mitsuhisa) can provide detailed explanations, I set down my brush here. With fear and reverence, I bow deeply.
