謹んで一書を呈し、昨年秋に特に使者を遣わして貴大君（将軍）が先代の事業を継承され、大いに武烈を顕わされた祝儀を奉賀したことに対する報復（返礼の書状）をいたします。その使者である国頭王子が大老の指示により江戸城に登城して貴大君を拝謁いたしました。誠に私の畏悦、何事かこれに如かん。さらに珍物を賜り、敬んで既に拝領いたしました。また使者は衣服・白銀を拝受するのみならず、従僕等もまた余恵に及び、再拝々々、恐懼の情に堪えません。聊か屋富祖をもって稽首頓首するのみでございます。また大老より賜った環牒並びに真綿を受用させ、歡扑、謝する所を知らないものでございます。なお薩摩少将が詳しく説明できますので、詳細に述べることができません。恐惶不宣。

I respectfully present this letter in response to last autumn when I specially dispatched an envoy to offer congratulations for your Great Lord (Shogun) inheriting the previous enterprise and greatly displaying military prowess. That envoy, Prince Kunigami, following the Great Elder's instructions, ascended to Edo Castle and paid respects to your Great Lord. Truly, my awe and joy—what could compare to this? Moreover, I was granted precious items and have respectfully received them. Furthermore, the envoy not only received clothing and silver, but the attendants also benefited from your additional favor. I bow again and again, unable to contain my feelings of reverent fear. I can only offer my humble prostration through Yafuso. Also, regarding the circular document and raw cotton bestowed by the Great Elder, I have gratefully received and used them with such joy that I know not how to express my thanks. Since Satsuma Shōshō can provide detailed explanations, I cannot elaborate further here. With fear and reverence, I leave much unsaid.
