六月八日の芳翰が頃間に送達され、拝見して傾然とした。そもそも去年の秋、貴国の使者国頭が来貢して貴大君に拝礼し、礼を畢えて暇を賜り帰国した時、足下は幸いにも恩賜を蒙り、使者もまた余の恵みを辱く浴した。足下が喜悦されたと聞き、今般使者屋富祖を発して薩州に到らせ、謝意を奉じたこと、我が贈った済物に対しても謝詞を演べられ、また土産三件を目録の如く寄せられ、これを領した。懇款の至りと謂うべきである。その余のことは薩摩守より述べるであろうから詳しく述べない。

Your gracious letter of the eighth day of the sixth month was delivered recently and I read it with deep respect. Now, last autumn, your country's envoy Kunigami came to present tribute and pay respects to your Great Lord, and upon completing the ceremony was granted leave to return to his country. At that time, Your Honor was fortunately blessed with imperial gifts, and the envoy also humbly received my benevolence. Hearing that Your Honor was filled with joy, and that you have now dispatched the envoy Yafuso to arrive in Satsuma Province to offer thanks, and that you have also expressed words of gratitude for the items I sent, moreover sending three local products as listed in the catalog, which I have received - this can truly be called the height of sincere courtesy. For the rest, since the Satsuma-no-kami will relate it, I shall not elaborate further.
