　山後手負引取細川殿立花殿浜手ゟ押来而蓮
　池本丸角之方江責良久相攫たれは日暮に及
　上使ゟゐ御使惣人数可引取との御下知也右
　近是を聞給ひて夜に入て者如何可乗を先共
　に自身さいを振て手廻りにも先立て本丸江
　乗込給ふ桑野も山後も一所に木戸口右之角
　より乗込続て伊藤半右衛門内田安右衛門須
　賀喜太郎野添治兵衛内藤九兵衛来旗とり加
　怒る迚上ゟ桑野取而本丸江抛入る右近乗込
　給ひて敵に向ひ鉄砲を打せよとさいを振り

　下知仕給処を敵能見春まして右近左之肩根
　を鉄砲尓て打多りさ連共場所を去不給伊豆
　守殿左門殿ゟ再三之御使にて本丸を引給ふ
　廿七日日暮に及ひ諸大将本丸江乗込ゐふは
　ふ見右近壱人也然者本丸一番乗は右近尓て
　可有之哉乗込与其侭夜中鉄砲ゐ打相守
寺沢譜曰二月廿七日鍋島信濃守先登して城に
　入堅高是に次て外曲輪を乗破り早く〱之丸
　に攻入翌日遂尓落城春なる之戦ひ尓敵を討
　取事多し我兵も又討死之検使杉原四郎兵衛

山後は負傷して退き、細川殿と立花殿が浜手から押し寄せて、蓮池から本丸の角の方へ攻撃を続けた。激しい戦いが長く続いたが、日暮れになって、上使からの使者が「全軍撤退せよ」との御下知を伝えた。右近はこれを聞いて「夜になってからでは、どうやって攻め込めばよいか」と思い、部下たちと共に自ら采配を振って、手回りの者たちを率いて本丸へ乗り込んだ。桑野も山後も一緒に、木戸口右の角より乗り込み、続いて伊藤半右衛門、内田安右衛門、須賀喜太郎、野添治兵衛、内藤九兵衛が来て旗を取って激怒し、上から桑野が取って本丸へ投げ入れた。右近が乗り込んで敵に向かい「鉄砲を撃て」と采配を振って

下知したところを、敵がよく見定めて、右近の左肩根を鉄砲で撃った。それでも右近は場所を去らなかったが、伊豆守殿と左門殿からの再三の使者によって、本丸から引き上げた。二十七日の日暮れになって、諸大将が本丸に乗り込んだ様子を見ると、右近一人だけであった。そうであれば、本丸一番乗りは右近であったということになるだろう。乗り込んでそのまま夜中も鉄砲を撃ちながら守りを固めた。

寺沢譜によれば、二月二十七日、鍋島信濃守が先登して城に入り、堅高がこれに次いで外曲輪を乗り破り、すぐに二の丸に攻め入った。翌日ついに落城した。この戦いで敵を討ち取ることが多かった。我が軍も討死者があり、その検使は杉原四郎兵衛であった。

The fierce battle continued for a long time, but as evening approached, a messenger from the supreme commander brought orders that "all forces should withdraw." Upon hearing this, Ukon thought, "How can we attack once night falls?" and together with his subordinates, he himself wielded his command baton and led his immediate retainers in charging into the main bailey. Kuwano and Yamago also joined together, entering through the right corner of the wooden gate entrance. Following them came Ito Hanemon, Uchida Yasuemon, Suga Kitaro, Nozoe Jihei, and Naito Kuhei, who seized banners in their fury. From above, Kuwano took one and threw it into the main bailey. When Ukon charged in and faced the enemy, wielding his command baton and shouting "Fire the rifles!"

The enemy took careful aim and shot Ukon in his left shoulder. Even so, Ukon did not abandon his position, but due to repeated messengers from Lord Izu-no-kami and Lord Samon, he finally withdrew from the main bailey. When evening came on the 27th day and the various generals who had charged into the main bailey were observed, only Ukon was there. If so, then Ukon must have been the first to enter the main bailey. After charging in, he continued firing rifles throughout the night while maintaining his defense.

According to the Terasawa record, on the 27th day of the second month, Nabeshima Shinano-no-kami led the advance and entered the castle. Katataka followed and broke through the outer bailey, quickly attacking into the second bailey. The next day, the castle finally fell. In this battle, many enemies were killed. Our forces also had casualties, and the inspector for the dead was Sugihara Shirobei.
