　欠付け給彼井樓へ上り敵之退き多るを御
　覧有り然處に三浦志摩守殿村越七郎
　左衛門殿両人井上筑後守殿石谷十蔵殿
　御同道に而諸手之攻口を巡拾せら連けるか忠
　郷之御座春井樓江上り給ひ敵之引取たる
　を見被申し也此時石谷十蔵殿忠郷に向而
　玄蕃頭此竹井樓を被仰付手繁く鉄砲を
　打せ候に依而郷人出丸を明け退し奈ら無登
　被挨拶其後忠郷有馬内記小屋迄御皈り
　有け鍋島江軍使を被立此方之井樓ゟ厳鋪

　横矢を射させ候に依而今朝出丸を明退き堂
　り出丸之内江竹牌を御附させ然扁からん哉与
　被課遣希連は信濃守被申けるは敵今晩出
　丸を明退たりと雖被御聞と此頃茂け様之事
　有て夜は亦人数を出申に依而必出丸を捨
　堂類共難定との御返答也暫時有而鍋島
　之先手ゟ武者一人出而出丸之狭間に置多る土
　俵を突の希爰かしこ見廻し而皈し也後に聞
　者彼武者は榊原飛騨守之子息金吾之後
　見に頼被申し浪人堺善左衛門与云者成与楚

駆けつけ給い、かの井楼へ上り、敵の退いているのを御覧になった。そうしたところ、三浦志摩守殿、村越七郎左衛門殿の両人が、井上筑後守殿、石谷十蔵殿と御同道で、諸手の攻め口を巡視されていたが、忠郷の御座所である井楼に上り給い、敵の引き取ったのを見申し上げた。この時、石谷十蔵殿が忠郷に向かって「玄蕃頭、この竹井楼を仰せ付けられ、手厚く鉄砲を撃たせ候によって、城中の人は出丸を明け退いてしまい、もはや登る必要がない」と挨拶された。その後、忠郷は有馬内記の小屋まで御帰りになった。

鍋島に軍使を立てて「こちらの井楼から厳しい横矢を射させ候によって、今朝出丸を明け退いている。出丸の内に竹牌を御付けさせてはいかがか」と尋ね遣わしたところ、信濃守が申されるには「敵は今晩出丸を明け退いたとお聞きになったとしても、この頃もこのようなことがあって、夜はまた人数を出し申すによって、必ずしも出丸を捨てているとは決めがたい」との御返答であった。しばらくして鍋島の先手から武者一人が出て、出丸の狭間に置いてある土俵を突いて、あちらこちらを見回して帰った。後に聞くところでは、かの武者は榊原飛騨守の子息金吾の後見を頼まれ申した浪人で、堺善左衛門という者であったという。

They climbed up to the watchtower where Tadasato was positioned and reported having observed the enemy's withdrawal. At this time, Lord Ishigaya Jūzō addressed Tadasato, saying, "Genba-no-kami, since you were assigned this Takei tower and had intensive musket fire conducted, the castle defenders have abandoned the outer bailey and retreated, so there is no longer any need to assault it." After this, Tadasato returned to Arima Naiki's quarters.

A military messenger was sent to Nabeshima asking, "Since we have been shooting severe flanking fire from our watchtower, the enemy has abandoned and retreated from the outer bailey this morning. Shall we place bamboo markers inside the outer bailey?" Shinano-no-kami replied, "Even though you may have heard that the enemy abandoned the outer bailey tonight, recently there have been such instances where they send out troops again at night, so it is difficult to determine whether they have definitely abandoned the outer bailey." After a while, one warrior emerged from Nabeshima's advance guard, struck the earthen sacks placed in the loopholes of the outer bailey, looked around here and there, and returned. It was later learned that this warrior was a rōnin named Sakai Zensaemon, who had been entrusted with serving as guardian to Kingo, the son of Sakakibara Hida-no-kami.
