　等首を討取しか盤各首之注文に被載此時敵
　を突伏而熊与首を不取茂余多有り此両端を
　按春る尓極月廿七日に板倉内膳殿被出堂類御軍
　法に者縦武士之出立に不変族有る共皆可違為打捨
　与記給其後松平伊豆守殿示し給ゆる御同法に
　者討捨之一件を除き至へ里此故に前之御制法
　を守而輩者態与首級を不取し尓也亦此時
　創を承し人々

現代語訳

等の首を討ち取ったが、それぞれの首の注文書に記載されている。この時敵を突き伏せて、なお首を取らなかった者も多数いた。この両方の事例について考察するに、極月二十七日に板倉内膳殿がお出しになった軍法では「たとえ武士の出立に相応しくない者がいても、皆打ち捨てにしてはならない」と記されている。その後松平伊豆守殿がお示しになった同じ軍法では「討ち捨ての一件を除く」とされた。このため前の制法を守った者達は、わざと首級を取らなかったのである。また、この時負傷した人々は

They took the heads of enemies, and each head was recorded in the requisition documents. At this time, there were also many who struck down enemies but did not take their heads. Examining both of these cases, on the 27th day of the 12th month, Itakura Naizen issued military regulations stating that "even if there are those unworthy of a warrior's conduct, all should not be abandoned to be struck down." Later, the same military law shown by Matsudaira Izunokami excluded "the matter of striking down and abandoning." For this reason, those who observed the previous regulations deliberately did not take heads. Also, those who were wounded at this time were:

Oka Yaemon, Nishijima Densaburō, Ōba Kyūma,
Yoda Sōemon, and others. In addition to these, among the rōnin were:
Okamoto Yasuemon, Hara Kan'emon, Miyazaki Hanzō,
Fukada Genzaemon, Aramaki Gonbē, Sugimoto Yazaemon,
Murao Gonnosuke, Baba Jin'zaemon, Iinuma Heizaemon,
Miyoshi Yasunosuke, and others. Besides these, those who died in battle were:
