　安右衛門旗を本丸江進希連共岡本も又手
　負希類に依而左手之旗は詰之丸江不入之

　六日惣責相延廿八日に相究候然處に廿七日有
　馬玄蕃被申候は鍋島出丸敵明退候由玄蕃
　せい路うゟ見及候段被申候に付鍋島手ゟ足

　軽を出し御見せ候得者明退候に究伊豆殿左
　門殿茂鍋島築山ゟ御覧候而鍋島出丸敵
　明退候間出丸与かはの塀江仕寄を付候得与被
　仰付夫より直に飛騨守處江両使御出越中殿茂御出
　候而伊豆殿左門殿被仰渡候由鍋島出丸敵明退
　候間仕寄付寄候へと被仰付候縦仕寄を寄候割敵
　防申候共越中殿我等人数者少茂構不申仕寄番替
　り右置候得者被仰渡候越中殿茂飛騨守茂同心
　被申拙者を被召出其段被仰聞候間三丸仕寄を近へ
　寄申候自然出丸江仕寄を寄候時敵与せ里合申候得者

余田が立てている旗の傍らに控えて、あの地形に選択の余地があると考える面々は下の段へ引き返した。また先手の旗奉行中野忠左衛門は傷を負ったが、浪人岡本安右衛門が旗を本丸へ進めた。しかし岡本もまた手負いとなったため、左手の旗は詰の丸へは入らなかった。

立花左近将監忠茂の覚書に曰く「天気が悪いため二十六日の総攻撃は延期され、二十八日に決定された。ところが二十七日に有馬玄蕃が申すには『鍋島の出丸から敵が明け退いた』由、玄蕃が陣地から見及んだ段を申されたので、鍋島の手から足軽を出して御覧になったところ、明け退いたことが判明した。伊豆殿、左門殿も鍋島の築山から御覧になって、鍋島出丸から敵が明け退いたので、出丸と川の塀へ仕寄を付けよと仰せ付けられた。それより直ちに飛騨守の所へ両使がお出でになり、越中殿もお出でになって、伊豆殿、左門殿が仰せ渡された由『鍋島出丸から敵が明け退いたので仕寄を付け寄せよ』と仰せ付けられた。たとえ仕寄を寄せる際に敵が防戦したとしても、越中殿『我等の人数は少なくとも構わない、仕寄の番を交替で置いておけ』と仰せ渡された。越中殿も飛騨守も同心され、拙者を召し出してその段を仰せ聞かされたので、三の丸の仕寄をより近くへ寄せ申した。もし出丸へ仕寄を寄せる時に敵と戦闘になった場合は

Since Gemba reported what he had observed from his position, when light infantry were sent out from Nabeshima's forces to confirm, it was indeed found that they had withdrawn. Lord Izu and Lord Samon also observed from Nabeshima's artificial hill and, seeing that the enemy had withdrawn from Nabeshima's outer citadel, ordered that siege works be constructed against the outer citadel and the river embankment. Immediately thereafter, both envoys went to Hida-no-kami's location, and Lord Etchū also came, conveying the orders from Lord Izu and Lord Samon: 'Since the enemy has withdrawn from Nabeshima's outer citadel, advance the siege works.'
