　手に度々付候得共或盤鑓に而突落さ連或石に而
　被打落終に其口乗取難く見候得共左近者
　共乗上左近旗を上け候而ゟ者終に一度茂崩
　候者而塀際之敵を打果其侭塀を乗取申
　候左近茂詰之丸江自身乗込申候其節左近旗
　本之者共手負戦死ゐ仕者茂御座候此様子石
　谷十蔵殿被成御覧候間委細不及申上候
稲葉次郎右衛門武功覚書曰二月廿七日に者有
　馬表江御寄合被成候諸大名戸田左門所江城
　責為御談合御寄合被成候然所に鍋島殿先手ゟ

　塀之手江乗焼立申候に付兼而定之場江陣屋
　にゟ懸合申候左門所は御寄合之大名衆直に
　受取場へ御欠付候事
又曰次郎右衛門儀黒田殿先手天草丸江付候与
　欠出し申候然る處に天草丸之敵共者早黒田殿
　先手衆追散し敵ふ残本丸江込入申候次郎右
　衛門儀少茂たるみ不申本丸与心さし申処に天
　草丸与本丸との間にて敵に渡し合則押付首
　を取申候丹後守殿手に而者一番首に而候由之
　事

現代語訳

手に度々付いたが、ある者は長槍で突き落とされ、ある者は石で打ち落とされ、ついにその口は乗り取り難く見えたが、左近の者どもが乗り上がり左近の旗を上げてからは、ついに一度も崩れる者はなく、塀際の敵を討ち果たし、そのまま塀を乗り取った。左近も詰の丸へ自身で乗り込んだ。その節、左近の旗本の者どもで手負い・戦死・討死をした者もいた。この様子は石谷十蔵殿がご覧になったので、委細を申し上げる必要はない。

稲葉次郎右衛門武功覚書に曰く「二月二十七日には有馬表へ御寄合いになった諸大名が戸田左門の所へ城攻めのご談合として御寄合いになった。そうしたところ鍋島殿の先手から

塀の手へ乗り込み焼き立てたので、兼ねて定めた場所へ陣屋から駆け合った。左門の所は御寄合いの大名衆が直に受け取り場へお駆け付けになった」ということである。

また曰く「次郎右衛門は黒田殿の先手として天草丸へ付いて駆け出した。そうしたところ天草丸の敵どもは早くも黒田殿の先手衆に追い散らされ、残った敵は本丸へ込み入った。次郎右衛門は少しも弛みを見せず本丸へと心ざしたところ、天草丸と本丸との間で敵と渡り合い、すなわち押し付けて首を取った。丹後守殿の手では一番首であった」ということである。

英語訳

Though that entrance seemed difficult to capture, after Sakon's men climbed up and raised Sakon's banner, not once did anyone retreat. They defeated the enemies at the base of the walls and captured the walls as they were. Sakon himself also entered the inner citadel. At that time, among Sakon's banner men, there were those who were wounded, killed in battle, or died fighting. Since Ishitani Jūzō-dono witnessed this situation, there is no need to report the details.

According to the military record of Inaba Jirōemon: "On the 27th of the second month, various daimyo who had assembled at Arima gathered at Toda Saemon's place for a war council regarding the castle assault. At that point, Nabeshima-dono's advance forces

climbed onto the walls and set fires, so forces rushed from the encampment to the predetermined position. At Saemon's location, the daimyo of the assembly immediately rushed to the receiving position."

Also it states: "Jirōemon, attached to Kuroda-dono's advance forces, charged out toward Amakusa-maru. However, the enemies of Amakusa-maru were quickly scattered by Kuroda-dono's advance troops, and the remaining enemies retreated into the main citadel. Jirōemon showed no slackening at all and aimed for the main citadel. Between Amakusa-maru and the main citadel, he engaged the enemy in combat, pressed forward and took a head. This was the first head taken among Tango-no-kami-dono's forces."
