　処に岩上冑ぬき捨からへ差出し某之首の
　候はん程は軍之給ん事叶う扁から須速に首
　を者手ら連て後可被任御心に与云て遂に
　馬之頭引返し一むち当て味方之陣に押
　返春輝綱常に恨而輝綱か軍之高名なかりし
　は差《割書：上》け所為也乍去主人を諌免止めん尓は斯
　被あら免と感せしと也
太平秘記曰松平甲斐守輝綱は父伊豆守
　信綱之供して島原江向己連しに落城之日伊
　豆守歟一手者軍せ須若甲斐守多希く者や

兵家茶話曰島原城攻正月廿日戸田左門家
　来に渋谷美濃か曰只今味方之先手共城下
　ゟ崩るへし然者大勢にも美堂連　羅連止
　り難可る扁し芝居を弐三町立退備へしとい
　ふ組頭大高金右衛門同心せ須其方は数度之
　場数あ連は左様之見合尤也初陣之某引取
　らはおく連て退た里と人評春扁し迚本
　之芝居を志ら須美濃者大高か若き故入

ところに岩上は兜を脱ぎ捨て刀を差し出し「私の首のある限りは、軍をなさることは叶いません。すぐに首を取ってから後にお心のままになさってください」と言って、ついに馬の頭を引き返し、一鞭当てて味方の陣に押し戻した。輝綱は常にこれを恨んで、輝綱の軍功がなかったのはあの妨害のためであった。しかし主人を諌めて止めるためには、このようでなければならないと感心したという。

太平秘記に曰く、松平甲斐守輝綱は父伊豆守信綱に従って島原へ向かったが、落城の日、伊豆守の一手は軍をしなかった。若い甲斐守は多くの者がやる気になっていると言っても、手に合わなければ残念に思い、世上にもこの評判があったということである。

兵家茶話に曰く、島原城攻めの正月二十日、戸田左門の家来に渋谷美濃が言うには「ただ今味方の先手共が城下から崩れるでしょう。そうであれば大勢でも美堂れ羅れ止まり難いでしょう。陣地を二三町立ち退いて備えなさい」という。組頭の大高金右衛門は同心せず「そなたは数度の場数があるからそのような見合いは尤もである。初陣の私が引き取れば臆病で退いたと人が評するでしょう」と言って、本の陣地を動かず、美濃は大高が若いゆえに入
