　私知行にかへて拝領仕り八つざき尓仕度存
　候け様に者申上候得共日向守出し様又彼者申
　様に依而弓矢八幡知行半分取らせ先手に可
　仕与申上ら連しと也此申様中々里つ者な類
　事に而諸々之一番乗りゟ茂称美成と也
別本島原記曰二月廿八日未明に黒田右衛門
　佐者共手負死人を踏付七八間茂有之石垣
　を乗上る此時討死数多有之然處に黒田
　三左衛門鷲見市郎左衛門吉田久太夫内藤源
　助奥舟善左衛門高橋忠左衛門二宮六兵衛福

　山長助抔其外歴々之者共怪死無二無三に
　乗込廿八日之巳之刻斗に悉く詰之丸之敵を討
　果す落去已後右衛門佐睡鴎に被尋候者今度
　城乗に我等自身再拝を取両三度迄勇候得
　共不待乗事睡鴎再拝を取て唯一度勇候得
　者退時乗込候事更々不能分別願は睡鴎
　物語を聞度由被申候睡鴎尤之御不審に而御
　座候惣而城乗与申は諸手ゟ乗懸而大方諸
　手之攻ける半に而見合能時分と見亭は味方之
　手負死人をも踏付て無二無三に乗候得は終

現代語訳

私の知行に代えて拝領し、八つ裂きにしたく存じ候」と申し上げたが、日向守の申し様、またその者の申し様により、「弓矢八幡に誓って、知行半分を取らせ、先手に用いるべし」と申し上げられたという。この申し様は中々立派な者のなすことであり、諸々の一番乗りからも称美されたということである。

別本島原記によると、二月二十八日未明に黒田右衛門佐らの手勢は、手負いや死人を踏み付けて七八間もある石垣を乗り上がった。この時討死する者数多くあったが、そのような中で黒田三左衛門、鷲見市郎左衛門、吉田久太夫、内藤源助、奥舟善左衛門、高橋忠左衛門、二宮六兵衛、福山長助などその外歴々の者共が怪死を恐れず無二無三に乗り込み、二十八日の巳の刻頃に悉く詰の丸の敵を討ち果たした。

落城後、右衛門佐が睡鴎に尋ねられるには、「今度の城攻めで我等自身再拝を取って両三度まで勇んだが、攻め上がれなかった。睡鴎は再拝を取ってただ一度勇んだだけで、退く時に乗り込んだことは全く理解できない。願わくは睡鴎の物語を聞きたい」と申された。睡鴎は「もっともな御疑問でございます。総じて城攻めと申すものは諸手から攻めかかって、大方諸手の攻撃が半ばになって見合わせる良い時分と見定めれば、味方の手負いや死人をも踏み付けて無二無三に攻め上がれば終には
