　尓乗取物に而御座候諸手茂進まさる尓早きか
　能迚一手斗り乗懸候得者城内之敵共先強く攻候
　方江助申者に而候故何と強り候而茂無理に而不成
　物に而候惣之手大方乗懸り城内持口之者共茂
　手前に鬧け敷時分を見合無二尓懸り候へは乗
　破り候物に而候其故自身能時分可申上与再三
　申上候而茂御さき被成拙者申事無御聞無理無
　躰に御掛候故歴々之者共大分討死残念に奉存
　候旨申候得者右衛門佐甲斐守市正其外家
　来之者睡鴎功者今尓不限事与者乍申尤与

天草軍記曰二月廿八日落城之時西之方大江口

　真先に進て城兵越物数共せ須突鎗に取付討

攻め取るものでございます。諸手も進まないうちに早いからといって一手だけで攻めかかれば、城内の敵共は先に強く攻めてくる方へ助勢に向かうものでございますので、どんなに頑張っても無理で成功しないものでございます。総勢が大方攻めかかり、城内の持ち場の者共も手前が騒がしくなった時分を見計らって一心不乱に攻めかかれば、攻め破ることができるものでございます。その故に、自分が良い時分を申し上げようと再三申し上げても、お先に攻められて拙者の申すことをお聞きにならず、無理無体にお攻めになったので、歴々の者共が大分討死したのは残念に存じます」と申したところ、右衛門佐、甲斐守、市正その外家来の者は「睡鴎は功者で今に限らぬことだが、もっともである」と感心し、忠義な睡鴎に御腰物を遣わされた。その尊敬は並々ならぬものであった。

天草軍記によると、二月二十八日落城の時、西の方大江口では黒田右衛門佐が先陣、黒田美作、同三左衛門父子が真っ先に進んで、城兵の越し物数多くを皆突き槍で取り付き、討太刀を払い捨て、一心不乱に攻め入り本丸を攻めて、ついに右衛門佐から一番乗りして攻め取った。諸人皆美作父子の武勇を感嘆した。

また記すには、板倉主水は緋威しの鎧を着し槍を提げ立花の手から押して本丸へ攻め入るため、険阻を伝って攻め上った。家人の米山与兵衛、星野惣兵衛、太田弥右衛門、大河

If various forces do not advance but attack with just one unit because it seems quick, the enemies within the castle will rush to assist whichever side attacks most strongly first, so no matter how hard one tries, it is unreasonable and will not succeed. When the main force generally attacks and the defenders at their posts within the castle become busy with their own areas, if one waits for that timing and attacks with single-minded determination, one can break through. For this reason, though I repeatedly offered to advise on the proper timing, you attacked first without listening to what I had to say, and attacked unreasonably and violently, so I deeply regret that many distinguished warriors died in battle." When he said this, Uemon-no-suke, Kai-no-kami, Ichimasa and other retainers said "Suiō is skilled not just now but always, and his words are quite reasonable," and being impressed, they presented a sword to the loyal Suiō. Their respect was extraordinary.

According to the Amakusa War Chronicle, when the castle fell on the 28th day of the second month, at Ōeguchi on the western side, Kuroda Uemon-no-suke led the vanguard, with Kuroda Mimasaka and his son Sanzaemon advancing at the very front. They attacked the castle soldiers' many defensive positions, engaging with thrusting spears, casting aside their fighting swords, and attacking the main bailey with single-minded determination. Finally, starting with Uemon-no-suke achieving the first breakthrough, they captured it. All people admired the martial valor of Mimasaka and his son.

It also records that Itakura Mondo wore red-laced armor and carried a spear, pushing forward from Tachibana's unit to enter the main bailey, advancing up along the steep and rugged terrain. His retainers Yoneyama Yohei, Hoshino Sōbei, Ōta Yaemon, and Ōkawa
